Virginia City is offering lovers a chance to celebrate a special Valentine’s Day getaway without going too far from home. "The Devil Made Me Do It" takes place Saturday, Feb. 13 in Virginia City, Nev., and includes options for couples or small groups of friends to enjoy a historically quaint Valentine’s weekend in the mountain mining town.

CARSON CITY — The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum announced Thursday it is reopening to the public on Tuesday, Jan. 19, the day after the nation celebrates Martin Luther King Day.

A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 2800 block of U.S. Highway 50 E. for suspicion of domestic battery after pushing her boyfriend after he allegedly crashed her car, something she said he did on purpose because she was going to break up with him, according to a sheriff's office booking report. The boyfriend was also arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol for suspicion of DUI.

A 54-year-old Reno woman was arrested in the area of Catalpa Dr. for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription after parking in a stranger’s driveway for over 20 minutes.

Each October, Nevadans turn their attention to the state capitol, Carson City, home of the “official” Nevada Day Parade. Since 1938, the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City has been an annual coming together to celebrate Nevada’s heritage and the founding of this great state on October 31, 1864.

A 31-year-old Gardnerville man and a 29-year-old transient man were arrested in the area of the Goni Water Tower after deputies were alerted to a man in a vehicle next to the tower who appeared to be incapacitated and found they were allegedly using drugs and were in possession of several bottles of mercury.

Carson City area citizens spent their MLK Day in the canyons near East Silver Saddle Ranch cleaning up dumpsites. In total, more than 50 volunteers removed 7,080 pounds of trash from the natural area. Items of all kinds were taken out of the canyons including plastic bottles, tires, yard trimmings, toys, and even kitchen sinks.

Heading into Monday and the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday we're looking at cloudy skies with a daytime high around 50 degrees. City, state and federal offices are closed as are schools. Friends of the Carson City Library's Browser's Book Store at 711 East Washington St., is open from noon to 5 p.m. Activities around the capital city include a canyon area cleanup hosted by Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space, a luncheon highlighting the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, swing dance lessons and more. A 30-year-old Reno man was arrested in the area of I-580 and College Parkway for DUI, driving with a revoked license, and driving left of center after driving on the wrong side of the freeway.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to locate a vehicle reported to be driving on northbound in the southbound travel lanes near the I-580, Highway 50 off ramp.
