Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service: Canyon Clean-Up in Carson City
Carson City Parks, Recreation, Open Space invites you to give back to your community on this year’s MLK Day of Service!
Recently, the department has found numerous large and detrimental dumpsites in the canyons near East Silver Saddle Ranch.
These are areas where people have unlawfully dumped trash of all kinds (old toys, furniture, tires, plastic bottles, etc.).
These foreign materials litter the natural landscapes and contaminate the Carson River. We ask you to join us in our efforts to clean-up and restore this natural area.
On this 25th annual MLK Day of Service, Americans across the country are rolling up their sleeves in service to honor Dr. King. Please join us in bettering our community.
Date, Time, Location: January 20th, 2020 9am-12pm (approximately) at East Silver Saddle Ranch off Sierra Vista Lane. Park in the lots located about 1.1 miles down the road once you turn onto Sierra Vista Lane from Carson River Road. Some snacks and drinks will be provided by Costco.
Need to know: Please bring proper clothing for the weather, water, and closed toed shoes. Minors must have a parent present. We will provide trash bags, gloves, trash grabbers, and any other necessary tools and gear. We ask that pets stay at home because of the risk associated with the unknown items at the dumpsites.
