Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Several fundraisers, including the annual “Share Your Christmas” Food Drive will be available throughout the Carson City, Minden and Reno areas on Friday. You can visit the North Pole safely as part of a drive-thru Santa's Village experience at V&T Railway in Carson City, beginning Friday into the weekend. A living nativity scene will be featured at First United Methodist Church on Saturday and Sunday. Combined with train rides in Virginia City, the state capital will be buzzing with excitement. The Carson City Host Lions Club is pleased to announce it is once again selling See’s Candies as a fundraiser for its Vision Preservation and other programs.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in a larceny that happened late last month at Costco.

Carson City area citizens spent their MLK Day in the canyons near East Silver Saddle Ranch cleaning up dumpsites. In total, more than 50 volunteers removed 7,080 pounds of trash from the natural area. Items of all kinds were taken out of the canyons including plastic bottles, tires, yard trimmings, toys, and even kitchen sinks.

Heading into Monday and the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday we're looking at cloudy skies with a daytime high around 50 degrees. City, state and federal offices are closed as are schools. Friends of the Carson City Library's Browser's Book Store at 711 East Washington St., is open from noon to 5 p.m. Activities around the capital city include a canyon area cleanup hosted by Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space, a luncheon highlighting the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, swing dance lessons and more. A Carson City man was arrested early Wednesday morning for suspicion of felony domestic battery with prior conviction and other alleged offenses, a sheriff's office arrest report states.

The 2019 Turkey Trot and Gobble Wobble started bright and early Thanksgiving morning after an overnight snow flurry or two turned the Governor’s Mansion into a Carson City winter wonderland.

Grab your mountain bikes and take a ride with a Park Ranger through Carson River Canyon on this exciting volunteer opportunity. On Saturday, Nov. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m., the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department will be hosting a volunteer trash clean-up in the Carson River Canyon Open Space.

The 2019 Silver State Art Festival is the third annual gathering in Carson City of award-winning gourd artists, painters, photographers, wood, glass and metal artists and from all over the Southwest. The festival runs Sept. 13-15 at Fuji Exhibit Hall, Park & Pavilion in Carson City.

On Thursday, first responders were dispatched to the Carson City Costco following a serious injury involving an employee who was apparently crushed by a malfunctioning steel door.

According to one customer who wished to have their name withheld from the story, they witnessed the incident while getting their receipts checked at the exit.

Members of the Nevada Gourd Society have a wonderful display of gourd art in the Carson City Library. The local group is known as the Great Basin Gourd Patch meet monthly in the Johnson Lane area to share and learn techniques used on gourds. The exhibit in the library will be on display until the end of August. You don’t want to miss all this art!

Seventy two players from all around northern Nevada gathered at the Carson City MAC Saturday, August 3, for good play, new friendships and to raise money towards building dedicated outdoor pickleball courts in the Carson City area.

In a last minute announcement, Carson City based non-profit Food For Thought, Inc. will continue the Summer Lunch Program during the 2019 season. The program provides free and nutritious lunches to all children under 18.

CARSON CITY, Nev. – Carson City Triad presents “Get Your Ducks in a Row – Legal Documents Every Senior Should Have” by Colby Prout of Nevada Legal Services Tuesday, May 21 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. The event is free and open to the public.

Participants who attend will learn about intestate succession, small estates, will basics, avoiding probate and will be provided with information about powers of attorney.

The High Sierra Fly Casters and the Carson Fly Fishing Club are joining forces to sponsor a Ladies Day fly fishing clinic starting at 8 AM on April 27 at Fuji Park on Old Clear Creek Road (across from Costco) to introduce newcomers to fly fishing. This one-day event is open to the public, but advance registration is necessary.

The Carson City Band Association will host its third annual night of music, food, and fun to raise funds for Carson High School band programs. Guests will be treated with an intimate evening of performances from talented musicians from Carson High and the community.

The hills around the Nevada state capital are alive with the sound of music and nature as the Carson City Symphony performs its 200th concert Sunday at the newly renovated Bob Boldrick Theater.
