Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: DUI stop results in arrest of minors
An 18 year-old South Lake Tahoe, CA, man and an 18 year-old Carson City woman were both arrested early Saturday morning shortly after 2 a.m. in the area East William Street, U.S. Highway 50 East and Russell Way for misdemeanor minor consumption of alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.
According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy observed the suspect vehicle failing to maintain a travel lane, its tires cross into the other lane. The vehicle was also observed to swerve side to side within the lane.
A traffic stop was subsequently performed and contact was made with the male driver, who verbally identified himself and his age, but said he had no driver's license or identification card. His eyes were observed to be blood-shot and watery, the report said.
The suspect driver denied consuming alcohol at first, but then admitted to having drank 5-6 beers earlier in South Lake Tahoe prior to driving his friend home.
An underage intoxicated female was observed unsecured and laying down in the back seat of the vehicle. She appeared to be passed out, the report said, and did not respond to law enforcement's initial attempts to wake her by knocking on the rear passenger window.
She finally did awaken after several knocks by the deputy. She was identified and confirmed to be underage. The female suspect reported she had been at a house party in South Lake Tahoe when she passed out on the way home.
The female suspect was observed to have red, watery eyes, the report said, and an alcoholic odor was emanating from her.
The male suspect consented to both field sobriety testing (FST) and a preliminary breath test (PBT), the report said. Field tests showed signs of impairment and the PBT yielded breath alcohol content (BAC) of .135 percent.
The female suspect consent to a PBT and blew a sample showing .135 percent BAC.
In addition to the minor consuming alcohol charge, the male suspect was also arrested for first offense driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and driving with a revoked or suspended license.
