Carson City arrests: Driver arrested for suspicion of second DUI
A Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday for misdemeanor suspicion of a second DUI and failure to maintain a traffic lane, a sheriff's booking report states.
According to the arrest report, a deputy assigned to the sheriff's Special Enforcement Team observed a black Dodge cut him off as he was driving an unmarked vehicle near Saliman and Fifth Street. The suspect vehicle failed to stop at a red light.
The officer caught up to the vehicle, followed it, and observed the driver failed to maintain a lane from the intersection of East Fifth to South Saliman, with both left tires completely over the center yellow lane line, the report states.
The deputy activated their lights and siren and the vehicle came to a stop in the parking lot of a laundromat at 5th and South Carson Meadows. The 52-year-old driver identified herself and provided the officer the information requested. The officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, the report states, which was also occupied by a passenger.
The driver was asked how many drinks she had consumed. She at first stated 1 margarita with lunch then stated she had 2 margaritas within the last hour. The driver agreed to submit to field sobriety tests.
During the medical question, she alerted that she had a hip and knee conditions that may hinder her participating. The deputy informed the woman for safety reasons she would not have to participate in the walk and turn and one leg stand test. She showed clues of impairment on an eye test. She provided a preliminary breath test of .114 and was taken into custody at 5:17 p.m. for suspicion of DUI, the report states.
At jail she agreed to provide a voluntary breath test, providing samples of .083 and .082. A background check showed the woman had a DUI conviction in 2014. Bail: $2,587.
