Carson City weekend arrest log: Man jailed on felony weapon and warrant charges
A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday morning in the 1100 block of South Nevada Street after a domestic dispute involving his girlfriend and confirmation that he had three confirmed warrants, two of which were felonies, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Spencer Jordan Oesterling faces warrant charges alleging possession of a firearm against court orders and possession of a controlled substance, both felonies. During the time of his arrest he was found to be in possession of a .22 caliber firearm, in which he was also charged with a felony due to the previous court order violations. Other charges include possession of a dangerous weapon, metal knuckles, a gross misdemeanor, domestic battery, two contempt of court warrants, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $37,934.
According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to South Nevada Street at 8:34 a.m. for a verbal domestic in progress. A reporting witness advised she could hear a male yelling at a female and could hear the female sobbing.
Officers approached the residence and saw the door open and the female being pushed out the door. Officers could see Oesterling pushing her out the door with force, the arrest report states. He then opened the door a threw a small apron at the woman, striking her in the chest. The officer ordered the woman to come down and talk to the officer. The man then opened the door and began telling the victim to come back inside. The victim went inside and shut the door, the arrest report states.
The officer ordered both occupants to step out. The victim stepped out and met with an on-duty seargant. Another officer could hear the shower running and announced to the man to come outside. He did not comply. The officer advised dispatch of the situation and it was learned the suspect had three confirmed warrants for his arrest: possession of a controlled substance and a being a prohibited person with a firearm, both felonies, and criminal contempt.
With the information officers entered the home and asked Oesterling to exit the bathroom. He was arrested without incident. He told officers he was in a verbal argument with his girlfriend. Officers found a marijuana pipe that he admitted to using. Also found was a pair of black and red metal knuckles next to knives. He told officers he was a heroin addict and is being treated for methadone. He was also in possession of the .22 caliber Remington firearm. He was taken into custody at 8:56 a.m.
In other arrests: A 26-year-old Washoe Valley woman was arrested Saturday, 9:25 a.m. after a traffic stop at I-580 near the Arrowhead exit, after he allegedly used another person’s identity to avoid arrest.
Ambre Watrous was jailed on the felony charge, and two misdemeanors, obstructing a police officers and violation of alternative sentencing for a DUI. Bail: $8,412.
According to the arrest report, jail deputies learned officers had suspected the woman, who had been arrested for DUI earlier, may have used someone else’s identity. Officers investigated. She was Mirandized and she waived her right and spoke with officers. She voluntarily stated she had been under bail condition for another DUI from December 2014. She admitted she concealed her real driver’s license and advised she lied and obstructed the original deputy by providing a cell phone text with a date of birth to avoid any further DUI on her history.
— A 31-year-old Sun Valley man was arrested Friday, 10:43 a.m. in the area 20 College Parkway on a warrant, failure to appear in court, and for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Bail: $2,596.
— A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 9:37 a.m. in the area of Hot Springs Road and Tiger Drive on a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny after allegedly stealing merchandise from Cal Ranch store. Several items of clothing with tags on them were recovered from a trash can. Bail: $352.
