Carson City Supervisors to discuss park names, contract funding and legislation
The Board of Supervisors will hold its next meeting on March 7, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 East William Street.
On the table for discussion for purchasing and contracts is the approval of purchasing Bleed Control Kits for North American Rescue to place the kits throughout Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties. For Fiscal Year 2019, the contract would not exceed $80,400, and for Fiscal Year 2020, the amount would not exceed $25,000.
In the Public Health Emergency Preparedness subgrant awarded to Carson City Health and Human Services, a scope of work outlined in the grant is to place bleed control kits throughout the quad-county region in locations that have large community gatherings, according to the agenda.
Additionally, a discussion on an approval of Amendment No. 2 to the mental health consultant contract for the Carson City Jail will be held, which if adopted would add an additional annual amount of $3,200 through June 30, 2019 for a total contract amount of $84,272 to be funded from the sheriff’s office professional services accounts.
Dr. Joseph McEllistrem is a licensed psychologist who provides mental health consultation services for the Carson City Jail, including mental health assessments, mental health treatment and counseling, and treatment recommendations to staff and inmates.
The board will discuss the Empire Lift Station Improvement Project, and the bid by K.G. Walters Construction Co., Inc., to secure the contract for the project. The contract would not exceed $227,700. The engineer’s estimate for the construction of the project was $190,000 when assessed.
Discussion and possible action will be taken on legislative bills sponsored and co-sponsored by Assemblyman Al Kramer, which are Assembly Bill 191, AB 214, Bill Draft Request S-50 and BDR 48-45. Assemblyman Kramer will present and answer questions on bills he is sponsoring and co-sponsoring during this Nevada legislative session, for which he is requesting the Board’s vote in support. Among them:
— AB 191 would allow grants to be awarded to provide Mobile Outreach Safety Team services in certain counties.
— AB 214 discusses a feasibility study for further development of a museum at the Nevada State Prison.
— BDR S-50 revises provisions governing the Carson City Airport Authority Act.
— BDR 48-45 authorizes counties to make appropriations from their respective general funds to cover annual special assessments on water use, if the amount assessed on a property owner is less than the cost of collecting the assessment.
In the Carson City Parks and Recreation corner, discussion and possible action is on the table to discuss the naming of two new park facilities, Carson Ridge Disc Golf Course and Schulz Ranch Park.
The two facilities are due to be completed in mid to late spring.
