Re-elected to a second three year term are Curt Spradley, owner, Carson Coffee and Carol Swanson, District Sales for Mary Kay.
Bob Tote, general manager of Costco Carson City, is new to the board and will serve a three-year term.
Gordon Gagnon, co-owner REDCO, and Joyce Whitney-Silva, COO of Greater Nevada Credit Union, have been selected to serve their first three year term advancing from a one-year Chairman’s pick slot.

The event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. in the dining area and is open to the public, said Lynn Ellis, WorkForce Case Manager for Carson City Health and Human Services. The event is sponosored by Carson City Health and Human Services, JOIN and Job Connect.

Board members meeting unanimously approved Ritter after she had expressed interest in the position. Ritter was nominated by Karen Abowd, board member of the CCCVB and a Carson City Supervisor. Ritter was not at the meeting and hasn't accepted the offer.

Mr. Gallagher stated (and I am paraphrasing here) “our children are not allowed to pray in public schools”
“The United States Supreme Court has never held that students cannot pray in school.
Carson City offers curbside Christmas tree disposal through Jan. 4
Submitted by editor on Wed, 12/26/2012 - 11:07amCarson City is offering Christmas tree recycling in cooperation with Capital Sanitation/Waste Management Inc. As in previous years, trees can be placed curbside on regular collection days or taken to one of the drop-off locations listed below.
Trees will be chipped in the springtime and given to local residents to use for mulch in their yards. Last year, 36 tons of wood waste was redirected from the landfill.

Gov. Sandoval appoints Lake Tahoe ski industry stalwart, Reno basketball team partner to Tourism Commision

Wagnon, a 40-year veteran of the snowsports industry, is senior director of brand marketing for Vail Resorts, Inc at Heavenly Mountain Resort south shore Lake Tahoe and Kirkwood Mountain Resort.
He has served on the on the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, Ski Lake Tahoe and the California Travel Industry Association boards. Wagnon is also a trustee and past chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board.

Carson City and Reno Hostess stores to close Tuesday

The company, whose roster of brands dating as far back as 1888 including iconic childhood treats such as Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Wonder Bread and Drakes, filed a motion to liquidate Friday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court after striking workers across the country crippled its ability to maintain production.
Early season Lake Tahoe snow prompts Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood to open early

Heavenly and Northstar will open on Wednesday, Nov. 14 with a combined seven lifts and eight trails, totaling 51 acres.

It was a refreshing change from so many discussions I've observed over the past two years. . . mostly angry shouting matches. Marilee Swirczek wrote recently about the "shout-out" at WNC which turned unruly when some opponents of the City Center Project started pushing and shoving an invited guest. I'm glad I wasn't there.

With out their support this would not have been possible for these fine athletes. Our Juniors (13-14 year olds) and Seniors (15-16 year olds) both Finished 1 and 3 in their tournaments and failed to advance to the Little League World Series but had an experience that most kids never have had.

Additionally, Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows (Reno, Nev.) and Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada (Carson, Nev.) will receive $5,000 Triple Play Healthy Habits grants to provide programming focused on teaching the importance of healthy eating habits and being physically active.
