Art exhibit in BAC Ballroom by Chris England, wildlife photographer and Carson City resident
The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1976, is hosting an art exhibition Friday and Saturday by Carson City resident, Chris England.
Nevada is home to more wild horses than any other state in the U.S. The Virginia Range east of Reno, home of Virginia City, has many wild mustang herds throughout its ridges and valleys.
The herd he has been photographing has 10 mustangs in this clan. Lead by the stallion Two-Tone who's mane and tail consist of pure white and black color.
He's is usually always with his beautiful blonde girlfriend Virginia, his mare. Wild horse herds are really strong family groups, they depend on each for safety and emotional support. Mr. England first found this herd on the high ridges east of Virginia City in the early summer of 2017 and have had the experience of observing, learning about and photographing them for 31/2 months. The photos he’s taken of these horses are really portraits.
“If these horses are given some time and patience you gain their trust and they sometimes will approach you out of curiosity and interest”, says England, “this allows me, to photograph them at their most natural and relaxed state”.
The event is this Friday Feb. 9, 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 10, 4 to 7 p.m. in the BAC Grand Ballroom at 449 West King Street on the corner of King and Division.
