Carson City residents invited to name two open space areas
The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department invites all citizens interested in the official naming of two open space acquisitions to submit a written proposal.
The two properties are located in the Kings Canyon area on the west side of Carson City and approximately two miles west from the Waterfall Trailhead.
The Policies and Procedures, property descriptions, and application can be found here:
Naming Application - Carson City - fillable
Resolution No. 2013-R-19 Naming of Open Space
The Policies and Procedures suggest that proposed and adopted names should provide some form of individual identity to the property. If possible, names should be related to the unique natural landscape, geographic or topographic features, indigenous plants or wildlife, cultural or historical heritage.
Applications must be received no later than 5:00 P.M. on February 9, 2018. Please mail or deliver the application to the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, Attention Ann Bollinger, 3303 Butti Way Building 9, Carson City, Nevada 89701 or email to abollinger@carson.org.
All proposals will be presented for action to the Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee at their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 5:30 P.M. in the Community Center, Sierra Room.
All citizens who submit proposals are encouraged to attend and support their interests at this public meeting. A final recommendation to name the open space properties will ultimately go to the Carson City Board of Supervisors for final approval and adoption.
For further information, please call Ann Bollinger, Carson City Open Space Administrator, (775) 283-7337.
