Durga's Drum Story beats tonight, Saturday at Brewery Arts Center
Drumming will never sound the same after hearing Durga's Drum Story, featured at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City Friday and Saturday night.
Featuring Liz Broscoe of South Lake Tahoe, Durga's Drum Story is a unique and acclaimed performance using multi-media to entertain and inspire audiences to learn about the rich and fascinating history of drumming.
Marching to the beat of her own drum, Broscoe, also known as "Drumchik" is a drummer, teacher and author who created this original production showcasing film, narration and performance. She's perhaps one of the most diverse percussive talents on finger, hand and stick drums.
“With astonishing musicianship, Liz Broscoe leads us through the history, mythology, and continuing evolution of drums, drummers and drumming," said Sue Klemp, Director, UNR Theater.
Durga's Drum Story poses a refreshing look at percussion where audiences can rediscover the importance of community and understand drums as having a powerful ability to unite all people.
As a special treat for audiences at the Brewery Arts Center, Liz and her company will have highlighted sections of the performances that will include 26 outstanding youth performers from the Carson City community, trained by Liz and her staff.
Performances are Friday, Jan. 25th at 7:30pm and Saturday, January 26th at 7:30pm at the BAC Performance Hall. Tickets - $15 Reserved floor seating, $10 General, $8.00 BAC Member/Senior, $5.00 Student (1st-12th Grade), www.breweryarts.org, 775-883-1976
