Monday is Carson City Parks and Recreation Awards Recognition
The Foundation for the Betterment of Carson City Parks and Recreation will be presenting awards to its 2012 recipients of its Special Recognition Awards in a brief ceremony on Monday, Nov. 7, at 3:00 p.m. at the monument at the entrance to the Pony Express Pavilion in Mills Park. The public is invited to attend this free event.
The awards will be presented in the following categories:
Volunteer of the Years - Greg Davis - True leader in youth sports in general and YSA and youth soccer specifically.
Volunteer of the Year - Jeff Potter - Enthusiastic supporter and builder of trails on Carson City's west side.
Organization of the Year - GROW (Gardeners Reclaiming Our Waysides) - No other organization has made such a one-time big year splash to improve the appearance of Carson City while at the same time providing thought provoking enhancements to our Carson City Freeway project.
Business of the Year - Finest Fence LLC - They have had a long relationship with Carson City Parks and Recreation, and have a long history of excellent customer service.
Each recipient's name will be placed on the monument in Mill Park. The selection of award recipients is a cooperative effort among the Carson City Parks & Recreation Department, the Foundation for the Betterment of Carson City Parks and Recreation, and the Carson City Historical Society. In addition, the names of Caden Tyler Huarte and Vickie C. Rybak will be add to the wall of memory.
