Carson City Classic Cinema Club presents Gene Tierney in 'Sundown'
Sundown is a 1941 American war film directed by Henry Hathaway and starring Gene Tierney and Bruce Cabot. The film's adventure story, set against a World War II backdrop in British East Africa, was well received by critics, earning three Academy Award nominations.
The movie is a superior adventure yarn of desert warfare and intrigue. It also proved to be a showcase for actress Gene Tierney, and one of the most obvious justifications for Darryl F. Zanuck's oft-quoted remark that she was "undeniably the most beautiful woman in movie history."
General admission $5; Senior/Student $3; Free for members. Doors open at 6:00pm with trivia and discussion at 6:30pm. The film begins at 7:00pm at The Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King Street.
The Carson City Classic Cinema club is a non-profit group that meets monthly to enjoy a classic film, delve into American cinematic history, and raise money to help disadvantaged youth participate it the arts. Film screenings are held the first Tuesday of each month. For more information, call Rhonda at 775-315-8495, visit our website at www.ccclassiccinema.org, and/or follow us on Facebook.
