South Carson Street returns to 2-way traffic in time for Nevada Day, wrap up work continues

South Carson Street now has new sidewalks, fresh roadway, improved lighting, and landscaping, with more landscaping to come. The street is back to two-way traffic in time for Nevada Day.

East and westbound lanes shut down on Fairview and Saliman Saturday due to vehicle collision, careflight enroute

UPDATE 1:02 p.m.: Careflight has taken off and is now enroute to Renown with one patient.

UPDATE 12:48 p.m.: careflight has landed at the east side of the prison for transport.

Tows are enroute to Fairview and Saliman, both vehicles are inoperable.

Just before 12:40 p.m. a two vehicle crash was reported on Fairview and I-580.

According to deputies on scene one person is lying on the ground.

All westbound and eastbound traffic has been stopped on Fairview and traffic is being diverted.

Careflight is enroute to the scene.

Traffic accident reported Friday at Carson and Eagle Station

Just before 4:30 p.m. a traffic accident was reported involving three vehicles near Carson Street and Eagle Station.

Injuries are unknown at this time.

First responders are enroute.

Motorists should seek alternate routes if possible.

CARSON CITY — Nevada Department of Public Safety Director George Togliatti has appointed Anne Carpenter as Colonel of the Nevada DPS, Highway Patrol Division. Colonel Carpenter officially takes command of the Nevada Highway Patrol on Monday, October 19, 2020. She will oversee 491 sworn officers and 96 non-sworn personnel.

New school zone hours extended in Carson City area

Updates and changes to school zones have arrived in the Carson City area.

School zones for Bordewich Bray, Carson Middle, Carson High, Eagle Valley, Empire, Fremont, Fritsch, Mark Twain, Pioneer High and Seeliger have been extended from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The installation of new signs and updated times is expected to be completed by the second week of October, 2020.

Trio arrested for organized retail theft after allegedly returning thousands of dollars of stolen property to local hardware stores

A 53-year-old transient man, a 60-year-old Tenasca, Wash. man and a 34-year-old Fernley man were arrested in the 400 block of Fairview Drive Wednesday for possession of a stolen vehicle, organized retail theft, conspiracy to commit fraud, and possession of heroin.

Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th, have been designated “White Cane Days” by the Carson City Host Lions Club.

Lions will be available at the North Carson Street Save Mart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day to bring awareness to the public of the sight preservation programs the Lions support, and to raise funds as part of the annual White Cane Days.
