South Carson Street returns to 2-way traffic in time for Nevada Day, wrap up work continues
South Carson Street now has new sidewalks, fresh roadway, improved lighting, and landscaping, with more landscaping to come. The street is back to two-way traffic in time for Nevada Day.
Construction crews will continue to wrap up on some miscellaneous work during November. More details on the ribbon cutting ceremony will be released soon. Have a safe and super-Nevadan Nevada Day!
South Carson Street construction Update for October 26-29
— South Carson Street is open with one lane in each direction. There will be temporary driveway closures between Fairview and Snyder for landscaping, electrical, and multi-use path work. There will be continued landscaping and electrical work at the roundabout. Miscellaneous repairs and concrete work from Stewart Street to 5th Street.
— Fairview between Roop and South Carson Street will be closed on Tuesday, Oct. 27 and Wednesday, Oct. 28.
— The train museum driveway (west side of the Fairview and Carson Street intersection) will be temporarily closed on Tuesday, October 27 and Wednesday, October 28.
Please follow the detours. Businesses are accessible. Construction is subject to weather conditions.
Elsewhere around Carson City, closures are expected at the following locations due to road and utility work:
— Fairview Drive will be closed in both directions, Tuesday through Wednesday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm for repaving of the roadway.
— Little Lane will be closed in the westbound direction, Monday through Sunday, all day, for construction of a development project. Eastbound traffic will remain open but may experience temporary delays.
— Retail Court will be closed east of College Parkway, Monday through Friday, all day. Access to the businesses will be maintained. There may also be periodic closures and detours to the multi-use path between Emerson Drive and Retail Court.
— Robinson Street will be closed to all traffic except school buses from Saliman Road to the east end, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm for construction associated with new development.
— Sherman Lane will have periodic closures between Airport Road and College Parkway, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm for replacement of the waterlines. Local access will be provided.
— Telegraph Street will be closed between S. Carson Street and Fall Street, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm for reconstruction of the roadway and sidewalk. Periodic closures of Plaza Street may also occur. Please also use pedestrian detours for your safety.
— Viking Way will be closed between Sherman Lane and Nye Lane, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm for ongoing waterline work. Local access will be provided.
Lane restrictions are expected at the following locations due to road/utility work:
— Airport Road will have single lane closures and flagger controls between Butti Way and Desatoya Drive, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm for utility installation work.
— Airport Road will have flagger controls between US 50 and Minonee Drive, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm for utility cover adjustments and striping.
— Airport Road will have narrowed and shifted lanes between Champion Street and Sherman Lane, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm for utility work.
— Fairview Drive will have lane restrictions and single lane closures between Carson Street and Roop Street, Monday and Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm for roadway repaving.
— Menlo Drive will have flagger controls at the intersection of Airport Road Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm for replacement of concrete.
— Roop Street will have flagger controls at the intersection of Fairview Drive, Tuesday through Wednesday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm for repaving of the intersection. Alternate routes are suggested.
— Silver Oak Drive between Siena Drive and GS Richards Boulevard will have single lane closures, Monday through Wednesday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm for utility work.
