Carson City deputies make three DUI arrests overnight

A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, August 27, 12:49 a.m. in the 600 block of West Spear Street on a misdemeanor charge of DUI, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a reporting witness observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Carson Street without headlights and had struck several curbs in a fast food restaurant drive-thru.

Man arrested after drug team finds 300 pounds of pot trim at South Lake Tahoe home

A South Lake Tahoe man was arrested early Thursday by South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County Narcotics Enforcement Team officers after they served a search warrant and found around 300 pounds of marijuana plant trimmings.

Dwayne Allan Crenshaw, 36, was arrested at his Fresno Avenue home and is accused of using the trimmings to create concentrated cannabis oils through several methods, including butane fuel extraction, a dangerous process that can cause an explosion and is a felony in California.

Cab driver among five arrested in Carson City drug bust

Acting on several tips of drugs allegedly being sold out of a home with children inside and local from a taxi cab driver, Carson City Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team officers arrested five people Thursday night at a Condor Circle home.

Officers confiscated small amounts of methamphetamine, heroin, more than 30 pieces of assorted drug paraphernalia and cash after a search warrant was granted. Three children — two four-year-olds and a seven-year-old — were taken into protective custody, according arresting Carson City sheriff’s officers.

Carson City man jailed after police chase ends when car crashes into casino

What began as a battery investigation where a convenience store clerk was hit with a banana, ended with the arrest of a man after he crashed his vehicle into a natural gas line forcing the evacuation of a casino early Sunday morning, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Osvaldo Ruiz was arrested at 1:41 a.m. in the 2100 block of East Long Street after a vehicle and foot chase. He faces felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving willful conduct and eluding with endangerment as well as misdemeanor charges of DUI, obstructing and hit and run.

Carson City man jailed for allegedly forging prescription from doctor

A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 4:32 p.m. in the 500 block of East William Street on felony suspicion of forgery, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Robert Wayne Smith was jailed on $5,000 bail. Officers spoke with the pharmacist who received a call from a local doctor who asked the pharmacist not to fill any new prescriptions for the man as they were all forged, the arrest report states.

Douglas County authorities find weapon in outbuilding where fugitive was thought to be hiding

Douglas County authorities were unable to locate a known fugitive Wednesday night after being tipped off that he was inside a Gardnerville outbuilding in the 600 block of Thorobred Avenue.

Douglas County sheriff’s deputies obtained information about fugitive David Gomez, who is currently wanted on two outstanding felony warrants and was thought to be harbored at the Thorobred address by family members, said Sheriff's Office Spokesman Sgt. Pat Brooks.

Carson City deputies make string of alcohol-related arrests

Carson City sheriff's deputies have made several alcohol-related arrests since Monday. A 50-year-old Galt, Calif., man was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, having an open container and not having a valid driver's license, all misdemeanors.

The man was reported by a witness to be passed out in his vehicle for more than an hour at a gas station in the 1600 block of East Fifth Street. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies arrived and found the man sleeping with the vehicle running and the lights on, according to the arrest report.

Gardnerville woman arrested after stolen property, check forging equipment recovered

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has recovered stolen property and manufacturing equipment to make forged checks.

Charlsie Duffy, 25, of Gardnerville, was arrested for several crimes including forgery, possession of stolen property and burglary.

During a forged check investigation, Investigators learned Duffy had manufactured checks. A search warrant was issued for her residence on North Court in Gardnerville and numerous items of stolen property were also recovered from various local businesses. (See photos.)

Woman booked into Carson City jail on child neglect, endangerment warrant

A 30-year-old Modesto, Calif., woman was booked into Carson City Jail Thursday, Dec. 12 on a gross misdemeanor warrant charge of child neglect or endangerment and three misdemeanor charges of contempt of court, failure to appear.

The warrant charges were issued out of Carson City Justice Court on June 18 and June 26, 2013. Bail: $4,500.

Carson City man jailed on DUI charge; stopped for driving too fast on icy road

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Wednesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence and going too fast for conditions, among other misdemeanor charges.

According to the arrest report a deputy patrolling the area of Koontz Lane in Carson City spotted a green Geo traveling at a high rate of speed shortly before 2 a.m. The back of the vehicle was fish tailing and the tires, spinning.

Carson City man faces child endangerment, other charges after search warrant issued

A Carson City man with an outstanding warrant was arrested on suspicion of gross misdemeanor child endangerment after law officers entered a home on a search warrant.

The 39-year-old man was arrested Thursday, 4:57 p.m. in the 200 block of South Harbin Street. His 32-year-old girlfriend faces a misdemeanor charge of resisting.

According to the arrest report, officers with the Carson City Special Enforcement Team learned the man was currently in a South Harbin Street home and had a confirmed warrant for his arrest for violation of a suspended sentence and failure to complete jail time.

Woman jailed for DUI, child endangerment after leaving infant, 5-year-old home alone

A 36-year-old Carson City woman faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and child endangerment after allegedly leaving her children, an 8-month-old and 5-year-old, home alone while she went out drinking.

The woman was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 5th and Fairview.

Carson City woman faces DUI charge after her vehicle hits light pole, refuses field sobriety tests

A Carson City woman faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and failure to maintain a single lane of traffic after an accident on Thursday night in which her vehicle hit a light pole in the 3700 block of North Carson Street.

The 64-year-old woman, a state employee, told officers she had not been drinking but then admitted to one drink at a local bar and restaurant. Officers report the woman had blood on her face and chest. She declined medical attention after an evaluation by Carson City Fire Department personnel.

Carson City man jailed for credit card fraud at local motel

A Carson City man was jailed Wednesday and faces three felony charges including fraudulent use of a credit card after, among other things, allegedly stealing identity from a victim and charging hotel rooms on a Visa card.

Scott Michael Westman, 44, was arrested in the 2700 block of Carson Street. According to the arrest report, officers responded to a motel to assist the Colorado Springs Police Department in identifying a theft report. While responding to the hotel, dispatch advised a man had used information to obtain a credit card, which was being run up at the hotel.

South Lake Tahoe authorities arrest 1, seize items stolen from vacation homes

South Lake Tahoe police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with several burglaries of vacation homes in town in which a large amount of stolen property was recovered.

Eric Beaman, 26, of South Lake Tahoe, faces charges of being in possession of stolen property, said South Lake Tahoe Police Department Lt. Brian Williams. A search warrant of a home on Armstrong Avenue led to the finding and arrest.

South Lake Tahoe man arrested in stabbing death of woman

South Lake Tahoe police have arrested a man they believe stabbed a 57-year-old family member to death early Wednesday morning on Wildwood Avenue.

Sean-Paul Andrew MacIntire, 32, of South Lake Tahoe faces first degree murder charges in the stabbing death of Shirley Gordon, said South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. Brian Williams.

Carson City man arrested for domestic battery, baby and mother bruised after being hit with pillow

A Carson City man was arrested and faces charges including domestic battery and gross misdemeanor child abuse after using a pillow to repeatedly beat on his girlfriend in which their baby also sustained a bruise to the face, authorities said.

Miguel Angel Paredes, 23, was arrested at 4:08 a.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of Lone Mountain Drive. He faces a gross misdemeanor charge of abuse or neglect of a child, two misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.

Sheriff: Reported crimes down in Carson City during event-filled weekend

With tens of thousands of people in Carson City last weekend for local events including Taste of DownTown, the Carson City Airport Open House and the Father's Day Powwow, law enforcement arrest records show a relatively quiet weekend.

"We had an excellent weekend and it goes to show that when there are positive family and community events happening around town, the amount of crimes reported falls very low from all points, north to south, east to west and downtown," said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Man jailed for felony parole violation; Two Dayton women arrested following meth sting sale

A 27-year-old Carson City man faces a felony charge of being in violation of parole after he was found Thursday under the influence of drugs at a gas station. He was also allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia and told a witness, concerned about his well being, that he was "on H" which is street slang for heroin.

Carson City burglary ring foiled with two arrests, at least $300,000 in items recovered

A Carson City couple face multiple felony burglary charges after authorities found thousands of stolen items valued more than $300,000 inside their home. The discovery, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, is likely the largest burglary ring foiled in at least 10 years.

Suspects in Carson City Wells Fargo bank robbery tied to Reno bank robberies

UPDATE 7:17PM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the two suspects captured after this morning's Wells Fargo bank robbery may be tied to a Nevada State Bank robbery in Reno. The two men, Kenneth Wayne Young, 44, and Michael Lee Smith, 36, are leaving Carson City Jail and will be booked and arraigned in federal court.

Suspect detained in U.S. Bank robbery on Market Street in Carson City

6:24PM UPDATE: With a secured warrant, Carson City authorities have begun to look through the vehicle and home occupied by a man detained and being questioned about the U.S. Bank robbery on Market Street at around 3:30 this afternoon. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the man has not left the property, remains detained and is being questioned. The owner of the home, apparently the man's landlord, was also speaking with authorities.

Authorities are also said to be at the U.S. Bank site. Witnesses told authorities the man used a handgun in the robbery and left with money. An unconfirmed report via the police scanner early in the investigation was that the money was recovered near a trash bin.

Witnesses said the suspect was a white male, gray hair, in his 40s, wearing gloves and a hoodie.

UPDATE 5PM: Carson City authorities have detained a man and are now questioning him after a robbery this afternoon at the U.S. Bank on Market Street. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said that a vehicle description and license plate number were secured by witnesses to the robbery. The license came back to the home in the 1000 block of Washington street near Richmond.
The identification, after a wants and warrants search, came back to a man who had a previous conviction of armed robbery, said Furlong. The vehicle matching the description as the getaway truck was found inside the garage of the home and authorities obtained a search warrant to enter the home and the garage.

Update 4:30 p.m.: The suspect has been detained and is interviewed. A search warrant is being secured and deputies prepare to enter the house. Streets in the area remain blocked off.

4:15: Carson Sheriff SWAT team on the scene at a residence at Washington near Richmond where they believe the suspect of this afternoon's bank robbery is holed up. A witness gave deputies a description and license number of the truck that was seen leaving the bank. Deputies then responded to the residence where the truck was registered, and saw the truck inside the garage.

The U.S. Bank on Market Street in Carson City was robbed at 3:28 p.m., Monday. Authorities are responding to the bank, where the robber, described as a white male in his 40s, gray hair, wearing a hoodie and a mask, and rubber gloves robbed the bank of an undermined amount of money, using a handgun or possibly a semi-automatic weapon.

Wardens arrest four in Lassen and Plumas counties

A citizen tip about deer poaching turned into a multi-agency operation resulting in the seizure of poached wildlife, drugs and stolen guns and cars.
The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) operation, which included assistance from U.S. Forest Service officers, California Highway Patrol officers and Lassen County sheriff’s deputies, resulted in four arrests.
The operation began Oct. 21 when DFG wardens received confidential information from a citizen and responded to the home of Charles Roger Godkin, 44, of Chilcoot, to investigate suspected deer poaching.

Search warrant leads to heroin and meth found inside Carson City home

A Carson City man faces felony drug charges after authorities received a search warrant and found heroin and methamphetamine. Edward Dale Cheney, 23, was arrested Oct. 15 and faces the drug charges as well as misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a suspended sentence.

Douglas authorities make arrests in Lake Tahoe cocaine sting

The Tri-NET Narcotic Task Force, working in conjunction with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Street Enforcement Team (SET), the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, and the Santa Cruz California Police Department arrested 26 year-old Joseph Perez and 25 year-old Oscar Madriz, both of Santa Cruz, California, on charges of trafficking and sales of cocaine. The arrests were made on March 2.

Traffic stops nets half pound of meth, two arrests

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested two women early this morning after a traffic stop that netted a half pound of suspected methamphetamine.

According to the arrest report, Dawn Fletcher, 32, of Carson City, was arrested for felony possession of the controlled substance, felony possession of the controlled substance for sale, misdemeanor trafficking of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Crime Log: Officers discover US Marshall's warrant during booking

At approximately 8 a.m. Monday morning, an officer accepted Omar Segura-Hernandez, 28, a Carson City resident, into the Carson City Detention Facility on Musser St. Segura-Hernandez was originally arrested for a felony failure to appear warrant issued in his name. Upon arrival at the detention facility, the booking officer accessed Segura-Hernandez' records and discovered a felony US Marshall hold for felon in possession of a firearm and a misdemeanor NHP failure to appear for a traffic violation hold. Both felony charges carry no bail.
