Carson City detectives continue search for gunman in Saturday killing
Carson City detectives worked overnight into Sunday morning following leads in the early Saturday morning killing of a Carmine Road man, the father of the alleged gunman's ex-girlfriend who was critically wounded.
Michael Dylan Brentlinger, 22, remains at large Sunday and is considered armed and dangerous. The 19-year-old ex-girlfriend he shot in the face remains hospitalized. Investigators secured a search warrant of the man's Roop Street home early Saturday evening hoping to find clues of his whereabouts.
Detective Division Capt. Ken Sandage said investigators continue to following up on leads, including those in Idaho where they believe Brentlinger may driven after the shooting, which happened shortly before 6 a.m.
Brentlinger is thought to be driving a white 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier NV/948XAT. Information received Sunday suggests the vehicle may or may not have plates on the vehicle but instead may have a temporary paper plate tag on the front window. Investigators believe Brentlinger has a .45 semi-automatic firearm.
It was learned Brentlinger had once lived at the Carmine Street residence but was told to move out. He was arrested Dec. 5 on charges of trespassing after returning to the home. He also had a restraining order placed on him by his ex-girlfriend to not come near the residence. It was also learned that he was fired recently from the Nevada DMV.
Investigation search teams will continue to comb through the mountain canyon areas and fields today looking for the suspect and any clues.
