These Major Project Grants have a public humanities project focus and will support larger-scale public humanities projects statewide that range from one month to one year to implement.

It delivered VIP eastern suffragists to Carson City to discuss suffrage with Governor Boyle in 1916, and it ferried ardent Nevada suffragists from Reno to Carson City to participate in Governor Boyle's signing of our nations 19th Suffrage Amendment ratification on February 7, 1920.

Students at PHS have been able to earn an Associate’s Degree from WNC along with their high school diploma free of charge.

Deadline on Wednesday for families to decide Carson City district in-school or distance-learning intent

Parents need to submit their intent of preferred learning for their students by Wednesday Aug. 5 so that their student's school will know how to prepare.

Firefighters continue to battle Monarch Fire in Douglas, officials warn of flash flooding danger

No structures are immediately threatened at this time and the fire is believed to be lightning caused from the previous day. Responding agencies include East Fork, Central Lyon, North Lake Tahoe, North Lyon, Story County, Tahoe Douglas and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection Districts, Reno Fire Department, Bureau of Land Management, Nevada Division of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service.

As of 9:45 a.m. Thursday morning, the fire in the Pine Nuts in Douglas County, which has been named the Monarch Fire, now covers a total of 1,794 acres.
Multiple agencies are on scene to try and control the fire which is thought to have been caused by a lightning strike during yesterday’s thunderstorm.

Minden, NV- Several agencies including Bureau of Land Management, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, East Fork Fire, the US Forrest Service and the Nevada Division of Forestry are currently responding to the Monarch Fire, a Brush fire in the Fish Springs Pinenut Creek Rd area.
No structures are threatened at this time.

Douglas County is asking the public to please stay aware of your surroundings. The fire is moving possibly East of community. Stay aware and alert in the event of wind changes. The fire is currently estimated to be around 800 acres. (subject to change)

Carson City deputies arrest pair for drug charges after they left a hotel known for 'heavy drug traffic'
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 06/12/2020 - 11:10amA 21-year-old Carson City man and a 41-year-old transient woman were arrested in the 100 block of E. Long Street for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating bail conditions.
According to the report, Allen Lee Parkins and Kesa Dawn Pascal were arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies after deputies spotted Parkins and Pascal leaving a hotel known for “heavy drug traffic.”
