The week winds down, but the happenings in Carson City are gearing up. Kids are going to have a fun time at the Carson Montessori Carnival Night. Help Relay for Life kick-off this year’s theme during their ‘Surfing for a Cure’ Luau at the Casino Fandango; you’ll have the opportunity to sign up your team, as well. No whining allowed, just fun times, at the Governor’s Mansion during tonight’s 'Let’s Wine Together' silent auction and wine fundraiser for the Carson High Band program.

Carson City Nevada Triad presents Aging in Nevada and the Sanford Center for Aging, a presentation designed to raise awareness about senior wellness, discuss trends in aging and share information about the Sanford Center’s portfolio of programs and services at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive, Friday, Mar. 9, at 11:45 a.m.

In an effort to address social and emotional needs of students, CHS is presenting the SOS (Signs of Suicide) Prevention Program.

Freshman health classes were the first reached in February. The JROTC students and health science classes are next.

Join us at Carson City Yoga, 305 N Carson St. (formerly Yoga Sol) for our Open House on Saturday, March 17. Both the 7:30am Mixed Level and the 9:00am Beginner Level classes are free. We will have sample classes of the various styles of yoga from our teachers. Each of these will be 20 minutes long. You're welcome to try out each class! We will be selling raffle tickets for some fun and useful prizes. Books, a yoga prop set with mat, bolster, and blanket, artwork, and more! Light refreshments served. See you there!

Carson City Parks and Recreation is stepping up to the plate with pizza and a movie if you are looking for a way to get out without the kids in tow. You’ll want to register for Parent’s Night Out before all the spaces are filled. Hit the town and discover what new restaurants have popped up this last year. Enjoy live music at Living the Good Life, Bela Vita Bistro, or at the historic Genoa Bar. Teens are welcome at the Boys and Girls Club for a night of dancing, music, and a chance at raffle prizes.

FRIDAY, Feb. 9: Things to do in Carson City

The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City is holding a grand opening Saturday for its newest endeavor, Expresso Yourself Cafe, an art experience with splashes of inspiration and creativity.

CARSON CITY — Ducks in a Row, a presentation designed to help people understand about advanced medical directives, power of attorney and estate management questions regarding wills and finances will be featured Friday at the Carson City Senior Center.

Friends of the Carson City Library is hosting an ‘Evening in Paris’ New York New Year's Eve Party on Dec. 31st from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Carson Plaza Event Center, 211 E. 9th Street.

We’ve got one heck of a weekend on its way, and it’s starting right now. Start off with a trip to the Governor’s Mansion with something non-perishable for the annual Share Your Christmas Food Drive: you won’t even have to leave the warmth of your vehicle. St. Peter's Episcopal Church in downtown Carson City at Telegraph and Division streets offers its annual Holiday Bazaar with decorated shopping areas inside the historic 150-year-old church and serving as a beginning to the holiday season for shoppers and visitors alike.

Welcome to the weekend, Carson City. Now that we are in November, thoughts turn to the holiday season. That means craft fairs. St. Paul’s Lutheran Family on Saliman welcomes you to their annual Craftique Open House. You’ll find the Young at Heart Seniors Club hosting a faire at the Douglas County Community Center. The Carson Nugget’s Sierra Room will be home to several artisans, vendors, and crafters during today’s wine walk. There’s quite a bit more, and plenty that doesn’t involve shopping, so take a look and have a great time.

The Downtown Carson City Business Association is hosting a celebration to showcase businesses from William Street to 5th Street and as well as kicking off the Nevada Day weekend right. This party will be on Friday, October 27th, starting at 11am with live music, food, drinks, art, street performers and a family fun center that includes bounce equipment and a petting zoo.

Carson City Nevada TRIAD presents “Tripping Into Fall,” a fall risk and prevention workshop sponsored by Carson Tahoe Health at the Carson City Senior Center Friday, Oct. 13, at 11:45 a.m.

There will be a Community Shredding and Electronics Recycling Day Saturday, Oct. 14 in Carson City with proceeds to benefit Special Olympics of Nevada.

The event is open to the public, and individuals and companies are encouraged to participate and is a fundraiser to support the Special Olympics of Nevada. One hundred percent of the money collected will support local athletes.

A Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser to support the Student Veterans Club of Western Nevada College will be on Saturday, Nov. 4. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and a raffle drawing at 7 pm. Tickets are $10 per person and are available by contacting: Kevin Burns in the Veterans Resource Center at (775) 445-3302 or Rick Vlach. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event will be held at Veterans Memorial Hall located at Second and Curry streets in Carson City.

One might think that the end of summer means that the fun times are over: they would be wrong. This list of happenings in the Carson City area isn’t getting any shorter. The annual Genoa Candy Dance is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, and this weekend welcomes the first ever Silver State Arts Festival at Fuji Park, as well. The first ever Community Garage Sale at the Community Center offers one-stop bargain hunting. Swing into the season at the monthly dance party hosted by the High Sierra Swing Dance Club.

Hundreds turned out Friday evening in support of the Carson Tahoe Health Foundation's HopeFest 2017, an annual fundraiser that benefits cancer patients and their families.

Make this weekend something special. School starts up on Monday and it will be Halloween before we blink an eye. The Silver State Gymnastics Academy Team is hosting a car wash and raffle on Saturday, August 19th from 1-4 p.m. at the Grocery Outlet to help raise money for the team to travel to the State Meet in Las Vegas. Tickets are $5 each for the car wash and raffle tickets are $1/each or $5/6 tickets. Please support the only competitive gymnastics team in Carson!

The Silver Saddle Ranch is always beautiful, but an afternoon filled with live bluegrass and western music, food, and family fun, makes today’s ‘A Day at the Ranch’ your best bet. Beat the heat up at Lake Tahoe as the Annual Ta-Hoe Nalu Paddle Festival wraps up its competition at Kings Beach.
