Summer weekends make me wish I had a clone. With all the hustle and bustle in town, there is just no way to do and see it all. Start the day at the Silver Dollar Car Classic and you can get your fill of shiny chrome and breakfast, too; the Kiwanis will be serving up pancakes until 10:30 a.m. The Downtown Carson City Wine Walk has been infiltrated by the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival. Several of the stops will be hosting musicians, in addition to vino.

What to do, what to do? That’s the question that starts most every weekend. If you’ve got kids, test their mettle at the annual Capitol City Triathlon. Open to kids of all ages, they will bike, run, and swim their way to the finish line. The third annual Sassabration event kicks off with a multi-colored, costume bike parade from the Brewery Arts Center to the celebration at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint. Multiple bands, vendors, non-profit booths, free swimming at the Carson Hot Springs, not to mention the yummy food and drink available make this a not-to-be-missed festival.

It’s hot. We know this. But in just over a month we expect you, your dog and your dog’s friends to be joining us for the annual Walk for Animals, which means right now you’re getting in shape for this, right? Despite the heat?

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to announce the date for HopeFest7, a free outdoor concert with headliner, Tyrone Wells. All proceeds from food, drink, and raffle tickets sales directly benefit local cancer patients undergoing lifesaving medical treatments, providing support for basic needs that go beyond the hospital walls.

The two biggest things that could happen to you this summer are entirely possible with one simple action. Purchase a $25 raffle ticket. Yep, that’s it. $25 will give you the chance to win a brand new car and save the life of a homeless pet all at the same time. It’s true, we swear.

Don’t look now, but there are only seven days left to purchase your tickets for the Nevada Dream Tag raffle. Tickets are available now and will be sold until Friday, June 30 for this year’s hunting season. The winners will be announced in early July.

Let the good times roll, Carson City. Cars, chrome, choppers, and kruzers are in abundance. Run Whatcha Brung at Fuji Park is open to any and all cars that can get themselves there. The Rockabilly Riot and T Bucket Alliance at Mills Park is an American Graffiti flashback. Cheer on our local motorcycle cops at the Extreme Motor Challenge, or hop on your own bike and go on a poker run with the Lords of Iron Motorcycle Club.

Mountain bike enthusiasts will have a few more days to enter the raffle to win a new bike as a fundraiser for Epic Rides.

Are you ready to Walk to raise money and awareness for homeless pets? Does your dog enjoy attending community events with you? Are you a fan of pet adoption? Do you love animals?

Make every move count. The Blue Star Moms Zumba fundraising event features Zin instructors from around Norther Nevada. Join them at Dayton High School, Saturday, July 15 from 10am until 12pm. You’ll find Dayton High School at 335 Dayton Valley Road in Dayton.

Because of the strong possibility of rain this afternoon, the Carson City Symphony's Pops Party Concert today (June 11) is being moved to the North Room at the Governor's Mansion. Occupancy is limited, but "the show must go on." Pre-entertainment begins at 3:30 p.m.

Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. Dayton Township Kiwanis will be participating in the pasta cook-off and offering a limited number of raffle tickets for The Society of Medalists 128th issue bronze Fossil Collection, during Oodles of Noodles, Saturday, June 3 in Old Town Dayton.

Carson City Symphony's 33rd annual Pops Party concert will be held on back lawn of the Governor's Mansion on Sunday, June 11. The program features the Carson City Symphony, Carson City Symphony Chorus, and guest singer CeCe Gable.

A new fundraiser, Hail the Trail, being launched by Epic Rides will give the public a chance to win one of three mountain bikes from Ibis, Salsa and Norco while also supporting trail-building organizations, including Carson City’s Muscle Powered.

The big game tag application deadline may have come and gone, but you still have a chance at the hunt of a lifetime.

I just keep telling myself that the spring flowers will be amazing this year, but honestly, I’m growing weary of all this rain. Several of our hiking and bike trails have been affected, the sports fields are a muddy mess, and we are still in danger of more flooding.

It's the first Friday of February and things are heating up. Not literally, mind you, that silly groundhog predicted more winter is on its way. Several new art exhibits are opening tonight, so make the rounds to the CCAI Courthouse Gallery, the Carson City Visitor Center, and Paradise Salon Spa Wellness if you want to hit them all.

Carson High School students are currently working with great intensity to fulfill their Senior Projects, a graduation requirement.

All those involved encourage students to pursue a personal interest, something to benefit others, or something to prepare themselves for their future.
