With a temperature around 50, it should be a perfect day to skate one last time. Show some Senator Pride tonight at the Community Center as 24 seniors compete for ‘Mr. Carson High.’ There’s a lot going on this weekend, so take a look at the list and go have some fun.

Nevada Burning Man Art Car instead of his usual sleigh. He will be escorted by some scurvy pirate elves. Come down to Telegraph Square in Downtown Carson City Saturday, Dec. 12 for the Christmas Parade sponsored by Carson City Downtown 20/20.

The Railroad Museum of Northern Nevada has rides on the McKeen Motor Car special for this weekend. Pinkerton Ballet begins its annual run of the Nutcracker at the Bob Boldrick Theater tonight. Get inspired for your own decorations at Candy Cane Lane: Carson Valley Inn’s drive-thru light show. Happy birthday to the Blue Bull; beer and cocktail specials start at noon.

Santa Train at Nevada Railroad museum runs three weekends in December

Get in the spirit of giving with a new tattoo from Hooligan’s Ink to benefit the Austin House. For something less permanent, drop off a turkey at one of the contenders in the Salvation Army’s Battle of the Bars. Giving your time is valuable, too. The Muscle Powered Trash Mob meets once a month to help keep Carson’s trails clean and litter-free.

Friends of Brooks Foundation Golf Tournament
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 09/22/2015 - 9:31amThe Friends of Brooks Foundation was founded by Allison and Owen Brolsma to honor their late son, Brooks Brolsma, and also in appreciation of friends, family, and local businesses who turned out in support during their time of need. Through a golf tournament in October of 2012, they were able to raise over $35,000 to support the family's travel needs, medical costs, and the costs of maintaining a household while having to live out of the area for over three months. Out of this generosity, a realization of the need for this type of financial support for our local families was born
Carson Tahoe raises more than $120,000 for local cancer patients at HopeFest 5

More than $120,000 was raised through sponsorships, and sale of raffle tickets, food and beverage with 100 percent of the proceeds benefit cancer patient support and no-cost lodging at Carson Tahoe’s Merriner Cottages.

Davidson at 6,200 feet elevation, the “kaboom” rocks the old 1850s historic mining community as the fireworks soar high above the town and Six Mile Canyon, making it visible from nearly anywhere in town.

The Nevada Dream Tag Program is a raffle that allows resident and nonresident sportsmen a chance at the hunt of a lifetime while also contributing to Nevada’s wildlife habitat. The tags are similar to other western states’ raffle tags and “hunt of a lifetime” tags.

The self-guided tour begins at 11 a.m. and will run until 4 p.m. More than a dozen carefully selected homes and gardens, some new to the tour, some old favorites, will be available for public viewing for this special event. We are pleased to announce that the Krebs-Petersen House will be opened for your admiration. This was the location of John Wayne's last movie, "The Shootist."

Senator Square: Speech and debate, future business leader teams prepare for nationals

CHS Speech and Debate will be holding several fundraisers to help cover the cost of the National Tournament this June in Dallas.
WNC Softball: Wildcats take final game of series at Snow College
Submitted by editor on Sat, 04/25/2015 - 5:47pmAfter dropping two of the first three games to Snow College by two runs or less, the Western Nevada College softball team found the winning formula in the series finale Saturday in Ephraim, Utah.
WNC outscored Snow, 7-4, to avoid the series sweep in Ephraim, Utah. The win followed 2-0, 11-4 and 6-5 defeats to the Badgers on Friday.
With the victory, WNC remained in fourth place in the SWAC standings with a 14-21 record - one and a half games ahead of Snow. The Wildcats improved to 19-26 overall, with four games remaining against College of Southern Nevada.
WNC Wildcats baseball, softball host 'Stack the Stands' days beginning this week

Project 150 is an organization that helps homeless high school students in the Las Vegas and Reno area. "PSN" has been selling raffle tickets, in the first quarter, at the monthly luncheons as well as collecting items for the homeless students of Project 150.

Well, it’s in Reno, but that isn’t too far of a drive for elephants, clowns, and cotton candy. Also in Reno, but intended for a slightly older audience, is the Lady Luck Tattoo and Art Expo, coincidentally held at Circus Circus.
For the outdoorsy-types you can join in the March to End Senior Hunger 5K in Dayton; the 5K Glow Run benefitting the Western Nevada College Softball Team; or join a ranger at Washoe Lake State Park for a guided hike.
