Pastor Tim Plummer, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Missionary Area Director, has once again brought Christmas trees to Carson City to support FCA. Christmas is fast approaching, and most agree it is the best time of the year. The holidays can be a difficult time for many, but it does not have to be this way.

So, who knows it all? Western Nevada College aims to find out Thursday, Dec. 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Virtual Team Trivia Night — a special no-brainer holiday-themed challenge that can be entered from the comfort of your own living room.

Carson High School's NJROTC Drill and Color Guard team competed in their first ever ‘virtual’ drill competition hosted by University of North Carolina ROTC program. The various teams’ performances were captured on video and sent to the University for judging.

The Greenhouse Project is proud to announce the first MaskurAid Ball, taking place Jan. 4, 2021 in an event where masks are mandatory and costumes are optional.

Taking place at The Governor’s Mansion Nevada Room, the event will observe all social distancing and restricted capacity guidelines.Doors open at 5 p.m., a prize will be awarded for the Best Decorated Mask.

This year, Carson Tahoe Health is celebrating an amazing milestone — the 10th anniversary of HopeFest! Ten years of celebration, ten years of hope and healing, ten years of community. Hopefest is CTH’s annual community-wide celebration that raises funds explicitly to support the critical needs of our local cancer patients and funding the no-cost Merriner Cottages.

Five days remain in the Carson City Library Summer Reading Challenge, and there are plenty of virtual activities for kids of all ages. The reading challenge officially ends on Friday, July 31. To finish the final week, the library is hosting a series of exciting events capped-off by a grand prize giveaway.

The first significant winter storm of 2020 will be blowing into the region Thursday afternoon, bringing gusty winds, heavy snow in the Sierra and 1-2 inches of snow possible in the lower valleys. Events lined up include a meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, art showings, the kickoff of an After school Art 2020 program at the BAC, the 2020 Winter Reading Challenge at the Carson City Library and more.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Nevada Artists Association New Year’s Show, and there’s a historical Curry family presentation at the Nevada State Museum. Famed country rock band I See Hawks in L.A. perform at the Historic Silver City Schoolhouse on Saturday. Heading into Thursday, today is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Across the country on January 9 each year, citizens take the lead to show support on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Law Enforcement Officers of every rank and file have chosen a profession that puts their life on the line every day for their communities. Thank you law enforcement. Heading into the first weekend of 2020, there are several activities around the Carson City region lined over the next three days. Events include the Winter Round Up Run at Centennial Park, the Carson City Library 2020 Winter Reading Challenge, plus you can take a post-New Year's stroll while the weather is nice during Saturday's Downtown Carson City Wine Walk. The Orchestra Program of Carson City School District is holding its Holiday Concert Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center. Just the idea of a concert in Carson City is exciting enough, but it gets even better because this musical event will cost audiences absolutely nothing except a little time and effort getting there. Admission is free.
