Carson City's The Fox to hold fundraiser for local family to avert daughter’s cancer medical costs

Local restaurant and brewery, The Fox Brewpub, will hold a fundraiser for a local family whose daughter was recently diagnosed with cancer on Saturday, April 6 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The event, which will raise funds for ten year-old Aylee Sharron, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and is the daughter of Mariel and Tony Sharron, will feature a raffle and live-music.

Young Women pursuing STEM Fields to be honored by Society of Women Engineers in Reno banquet

This April, the Society of Women Engineers, Sierra Nevada Section, will host their seventh annual banquet to support Northern Nevada and Northern California area youth exploring science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

High school teachers from around the region are invited to nominate female students in their classes to receive this award of merit. Those students who are nominated are then invited to attend the banquet –along with their friends, families, supporters and teachers – to receive a certificate and accolades on stage and with fanfare.

Carson City community leader, cultural organization to receive Nevada Humanities Awards

'The Mustang,' filmed in Carson City, coming to Galaxy Fandango April 11

A new movie that was filmed at the historic state prison in Carson City “The Mustang” starring veteran actor Bruce Dern and Matthias Schoenaerts, known for the Academy Award winning film “The Danish Girl” and Jennifer Lawrence’s “Red Sparrow,” will premiere in Carson City on April 11 at the Galaxy Fandango Theaters with the first showing at 7 p.m.

Carson City Parks and Recreation hosts Saturday pollinator garden site work day

Pollinators, like honey bees, bumble bees, and monarch butterflies, are in serious need of quality habitat in northern Nevada. If you’d like to be a part of this awesome community garden that will be a haven for these important species, we’d love your help!

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space will be raking and picking out the shrubbery to make room for spring planting, so make sure to bring water, sunscreen, and comfy clothes. Gloves and snacks will be provided. The event is from 9 a.m. to noon. Click on flier for more details.

My name is Cassidy Davis and I am the owner of Northern Nevada HotSpot as well as the founder of a local organization, Faith Hope Love of Northern Nevada. 24-hour ride in Carson City cycles in donations of more than $1,000 for Boys and Girls Club

Indoor cyclists burned at least 2,000 calories and rode about 50 miles within the first 20 minutes at Life Cycle Elite Spin Studio's 24-hour community ride Friday.

The event was organized by Jill Larson, who coordinated with the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Nevada and the Healthy Habits Program.

Northern Nevada Department of Education, Licensure Division moving to Main Office

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Education’s Northern Nevada Educator Licensure Division is moving to the Department’s main office, located at 700 East Fifth Street in Carson City, on April 1.

“We believe this move will improve our customer service in Northern Nevada,” said Jason Dietrich, Interim Deputy Superintendent. “It will also better connect our staff with the rest of the Nevada Department of Education.”

Capital City Arts Initiative presents 'The Lilley,' Northern Nevada's newest Art Museum

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents an exhibition, "The Lay of the Land," by artist Fred Howland in the Community Center’s Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition runs now through June 30, 2019. Northern Nevada Zero Fatalities campaign partners to provide no cost Lyft ride credits

Zero Fatalities has expanded its partnership with Lyft by teaming up with local businesses and organizations committed to eliminating impaired driving fatalities in Northern Nevada.

Lyft has pledged $50,000 in free ride credit to be distributed during major consumption holidays to support the coalition’s campaigns that promote safe transportation options throughout the region.

Unearthing Nevada’s Past at March Carson City Leisure Hour Club meeting

Senator Square: First generation college graduate shares his story with CHS students

Sergio Trejo Jr., a Las Vegas native and first-generation college graduate, visited several Carson City schools recently to share his inspiring story about his admittance to medical school. Trejo presented to more than 150 students.
