Vail Resorts, Douglas County foundation announce climbing wall lifetime naming agreement

MINDEN — The Douglas County Community Services Foundation and Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort, through Vail Resorts EpicPromise have inked an agreement for a lifetime naming right sponsorship of the planned two-story world-class climbing wall in the Douglas County Community and Senior Center in Gardnerville.

Thursday provided the Carson High School cross country team with a good look at the rest of the Sierra League and a little change of pace Thursday afternoon in Washoe Valley.

Five Questions for Jennifer Mahe of the Nevada Day Treasure Hunt

The Nevada Day Treasure Hunt has been going strong for nearly 20 years in the capital city, and for this installment of 5 Questions we spoke with Jennifer Mahe, one of the current organizers of the Hunt.

The Hunt has become an honorary Nevada Day tradition for Carson City and the surrounding areas, during which clues are released to the community with the goal of finding the mysterious Treasure Hunt medallion before the other hunters. From Mormon Station to Rancho San Rafael to the Nevada State Museum, you'll never know where the end of the hunt will be, but searching is half the fun!

Senator Square: Carson High School seniors rise with the sun

Watching them gather, wearing pajamas, wrapped in blankets, and celebrating the beginning of their senior year, the Class of 2019-2020 gathered together at 6:00 a.m. Aug. 30 on the bleachers of the Carson High School football field to watch the sun rise; it is the beginning of their last year at CHS, and, for some of them, their last year as students who were raised within the Carson City School District, students who went from kindergarten at Mark Twain Elementary to Carson Middle School and have spent the last three years at CHS.

Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space is pleased to announce our 3rd Annual BOO-nanza Halloween event on Tuesday, October 29th.

Last year, approximately 1000 children participated and we expect a bigger crowd this year. In an effort to create a safe and family friendly Halloween experience, Carson City Park, Recreation & Open Space has partnered with the Carson City Library. The Community Center will be opened for trick or treating, haunted house, and outdoor carnival.
