Carson City's Pioneer High School students accept Challenge Day with Project Discovery

Late last month, Pioneer High School literally sailed student learning outside of the classroom into the Carson City Community Center pool at their first all-school Challenge Day event with Reno-based Project Discovery.

On and off, on off. That’s what I keep doing with our irrigation and hoses as the daytime temperatures stay warm, but with nighttime temperatures below freezing. On, water; off, open spigots and hoses and drain them. While this is tedious, I am enjoying the beautiful weather.

Coming Soon to the Capital City: “Good Day Carson” TV Launches December 2nd

The National Grassroots Broadcasting Network (NGBN) and it’s flagship affiliate NGBN Carson City TV are proud to announce the launch of Carson City's first ever five day-a-week morning TV show.

The show titled, Good Day Carson, is the next project for the NGBN Carson City TV Platform, which aims to produce quality, community-focused content to areas often overshadowed by larger markets. This is the case with nearby Reno; yet, many consider Carson City too small to stand on its own. But the producers of Good Day Carson think differently.

Going into Monday, Nov. 11, 2019 it is Veterans Day. Federal, state and local government offices and schools are closed to observe the holiday. Thank you U.S. Veterans for your service to our great country. Carson City area artist 'Willow Bill' Stage 4 cancer fundraiser to be at A to Zen

Carson City's Fritsch Elementary fundraiser helps build clean drinking water wells in Africa

CARSON CITY — The two-week long Apex Leadership Company training and fundraiser at Fritsch Elementary School not only provided a focused leadership and fitness curriculum that culminated in a school-wide fun run and obstacle course, but it also helped gross nearly $20,000 that benefited the school by more than $10,000 for specialist programs including playground equipment, musical instruments and technology.

Carson City's Empire Elementary awarded $5K Rotary grant for STEM Parent Nights

The Carson City School District, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Carson City, is pleased to announce Empire Elementary School as the winner of a $5,000 grant to hold four Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Parent Nights at their school. Nearly a dozen applications from teachers and teams of teachers were received for this competitive STEM grant.

Senator Square: Student reflects on Carson High School girls golf season

Editor’s Note: Sarah Wiggins is a CHS sophomore, athlete, NHS member, Leadership member, Blue Crew member, and HOSA Future Health Professional member.

The 2019 season for CHS girls golf was a great experience for everyone on the team. This year, the team was comprised of five girls: Karen Beglin, Sophia Taggart, Karrina Ferris, Brooke Gudmundson, myself, and our coaches, Wade Greenlee and Jack Butler.
