Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce auditions for "Shrek: The Musical, Jr." The show will run eight performances, January 17-26, 2020 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center. We are looking for actors, singers, and dancers grades K-12, who will be cast to play a host of colorful fractured fairytale characters!

Just about two years ago, the Bulldog Cyber Cafe quietly opened its doors in the Grocery Outlet shopping center beside Bulldog PC Repair. However, they quickly outgrew their space, and three months ago, the new Bulldog Cyber Cafe opened its doors at 251 Jeanelle Street in Carson City.

A fashion show sponsored by DV8 Salon Studio to benefit Pets Of The Homeless will be presented at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City on Saturday, August 17 at 1:30 p.m. Trendy and unique fashions will be featured by Stein Mart with hair and make up being done by DV8 Salon studio, with guest makeup artist Regina Wolford from “Wake up with Make up.”

Casteel, a 2018 graduate from Sierra Lutheran High School and a rising sophomore at Concordia University, Irvine used her first year in college to quickly grab ahold of the fast-climbing elevator to the executive suite for college students studying business.

This is an event like no other, where agencies who work in areas of public health and safety gather at Mills Park to meet with Carson City residents. This event features 3 hours of information booths, games, demonstrations, food and fun. Also happening Tuesday is a free robotics mini-camp for kids in nearby Silver City, Reciprocity Inc. will host a fundraiser at Rustically Divine, there's the Culinary Traveler’s Club's Polynesian Paradise featured at Bleu Café; the Carson City Classic Cinema Club will feature a Sci-Fi favorite at the BAC, plus fitness outings and more. The Pokémon Go Carson City group joined forces with Fallon, Fernley, Sparks, Reno and South Lake Tahoe Pokémon Go groups to hold the first Northern Nevada All Community Day event — and the biggest community day yet for Carson City — bringing more than 150 enthusiasts to Mills Park on Saturday for competition and prizes, food and family fun.

National Night Out, one of Carson City’s largest summer celebrations, is returning Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mills Park for its 17th year. And by all indications, it will be the biggest yet.

National Night Out is a way for residents to meet those who serve and protect our community as well as agencies that provide services, especially in areas of public health and safety. Agencies such as Search and Rescue, Health and Human Services, Care Flight, Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Carson City Fire Department, Nevada Highway Patrol, Department of Wildlife, agency advocates and dozens more.

UPDATE: There's a star party late Monday night into Tuesday morning hosted by Carson City Parks and Recreation and Open Space. For summer’s most visible meteor showers, join the Carson City Parks, Rec and Open Space Department at Western Nevada College’s Jack C. Davis Observatory for some late night, educational fun. No pre-registration necessary. Please wear close-toed shoes and bring water for night hiking from the Observatory. Head lamps and flashlights are allowed. Heading into Monday, July 29, 2019 and we're wondering how the month went by so quickly. Again we're looking at a fairly typical end of July day weather wise, with sunny skies and a high around 94. On tap around Carson City are athletic, art and speaking events, a life guard camp, a computer coding camp, line dancing lessons and more. Enjoy.

Capital City Hoops, a local non-profit organization, is hosting the second annual Back-to-School Basketball Camp for kids ages 5-15. The event will be held August 5-8 at the MAC Facility at 1860 Russell Way in Carson City from 9 a.m. to noon.
