Weekend events, including Oktoberfests and zany outhouse races, continue Sunday around Carson City and throughout the greater Reno-Tahoe area.

The Carson High School wrestling program opened its second annual Oktoberfest team fundraiser in downtown Carson City Saturday evening on Bob McFadden Plaza.

October in Northern Nevada means more than Nevada Day. There are also outhouse races, fall festivals and Oktoberfests; all three of which are happening this first weekend of October around the region.

Trick or Treat Downtown at participating businesses. Mystery Prizes will be given out at surprise locations. Member businesses in the Downtown Business Association are hosting their 4th annual Candy Crawl on October 31st from 5pm to 6:30pm. This event is FREE and gives families a safe, fun and centrally-located option for Trick or Treating. The map will be available for printing or pick up at http://www.downtowncarson.org/downtown-candy-crawl/ as the event gets closer.

CARSON CITY — Advocates to End Domestic Violence invites residents to take part in this year’s Domestic Violence Awareness month. AEDV has events planned all month long, which began Monday, Oct. 1 when the organization set out to Paint the Town Purple.

The next "Ideas On Tap" in downtown Carson City is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Battle Born Social Lounge, 318 N. Carson Street.

With daytime high temperatures in the low 70s, Sunday could just about be a near-perfect day for outdoor activities in celebration of September's swan song.

Since early June, the Third and Curry Farmer's Market has been a Saturday morning staple in downtown Carson City.

The new farm-to-table restaurant Gather in downtown Carson City will host its grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration this Wednesday, Oct. 3. Festivities begin at 5 p.m.

The Greenhouse Project in Carson City, a nonprofit teaching facility at Carson High School that provides youth education and vocational opportunities, is participating in the Power of Good Giveaway through the NV Energy Foundation and is asking locals to vote Tuesday through Friday.

A 73 year-old Carson City man was arrested at 6:50 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI) alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Commodore Kraken and his scruvy crew of pirates arrived from Reno Saturday morning, coming ashore on Bob McFadden Plaza in downtown Carson City for "Pirates on the Plaza," a fun-filled fundraising event to help the area's homeless.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association are excited to announce the Third Annual Rummage Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 and Sunday, Sept. 30 at Veterans Memorial Hall, located at the corner of Second and Curry streets in downtown Carson City.

While many Third and Curry Farmer's Market shoppers were still waking up to a crisp Saturday morning in Carson City, a young Mule deer family was feasting on the bounty of apples that had fallen from a tree along N. Ormsby Blvd.

Mangia Tutto, a Chicago-inspired pizzeria and Italian ristorante occupying the former D'Vine Wines space at 200 N. Stewart Street in Carson City, is now open for lunch and dinner, owners Richard Bragiel and Catherine Rolewicz said.
