CARSON CITY — Fifth graders from all six public elementary schools as well as Carson Montessori and Saint Teresa’s will perform as a unified holiday choir for the 30th annual Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights on the Capitol steps in downtown Carson City this Friday.

Pets of the Homeless is a program that provides people in need and pets in need with resources to help their pets. Funds collected go directly to pay for the veterinary, nutritional and other care of pets of homeless individuals across the country.

The centennial anniversary of World War I Armistice was observed Sunday morning at the Nevada State Museum in downtown Carson City with a "Bells of Peace" commemoration featuring the replica Liberty Bell displayed in Loftin Park, the outdoor courtyard just east of the Dema Guinn Concourse.

Today is Armistice Day, Nov. 11, precursor to the modern Veterans Day holiday, which is observed on Monday.

On this date 100 years ago, armistice was signed ending World War I in Europe.
