Polls in Nevada open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, enjoy another day of sunny skies with a hike, brisk walk or bike ride around town. There's both a morning and evening hike offered through Muscle Powered or you can simply walk through downtown Carson City and alongside the capitol building. Also featured today are activities that promote diabetes awareness through Carson Tahoe Health, numerous art showings, local political party election night events and a classic film being shown at the Brewery Arts Center.

The beginning of the work week promises sunny skies and seasonable temperatures, with highs in the mid to upper 60s. With the time change now in full swing and the sun rising earlier, it's always good practice to keep your windshield clean and clear and to be mindful of those intersections, streets, crosswalks and sidewalks where the rising sun shines especially bright.

Dale Poune is a musician and songwriter. He plays guitar, bass, mandolin, dobro and sings. Poune is experienced at Rock, Blues, R&B, Country, smooth jazz and Bluegrass. He has performed with the Lacy J. Dalton, The Fortunes, Buddy Miles, David Frizzell, Johnny Lee, Paulette Carlson (HWY 101) and Marty Haggard.

Parade day lifts off in downtown Carson City

The parade's official start time is about 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

After the parade come on down to Carson City Art Gallery, 110 S Curry Street, corner of 2nd, in downtown Carson City. There will be some artists displaying art both within and without the Gallery. Artists will also be coming down to talk with the public about their artwork, techniques, and experience.

Erik Holland has worked as an artist his entire adult life. He started painting murals in Fairbanks, Alaska in the 1990's. He then moved to Reno, Nevada, achieving his dream of living in the high desert. He has had a one man show in Reno every year since 2001.

Following the ribbon cutting, downtown Carson City will radiate with entertainment and activities for the Passport to Downtown beginning 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
