City Parks: Water conservation a priority

Water pump station failure affects Goni area of Carson City, users asked to restrict water use

Public Works has applied a temporary fix to the problem with the permanent solution expected to arrive Thursday morning.
Power outage affects nearly 1,830 NV Energy customers in north Carson City

All but five customers are without power in Carson City. There is an outage off of Duck Hill Road in north Carson City that is affecting 5 customers. NV Energy hopes to have the power restored by 10:15 p.m.
Downtown Carson City construction update meeting today

Interested citizens can meet with the contractor, ask questions and walk the construction site. Organizers made some changes to the schedule and they will share them at the meeting. CarsonProud will also post a video of this meeting if residents can't attend.

Public Works and Q&D Construction held its first of a two-day plant salvage on Monday. Citizens interested in transplanting the plants can head to the intersection of 3rd and Curry Street after 5 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 22. Plants will be available for pick up on a first come first serve basis.
Radio towers no longer in Carson City skyline

The pair of towers, built in 1954, stood 220 feet high and will be replaced by a single tower. The new tower will be relocated about 100 yards west of the current location to an adjacent property, a spokesperson for the radio station said.
Carson City Public Works, construction company salvage downtown plants for public

The $30 million project is for the repair and rehabilitation of major components of the sewer plant to ensure continued compliance with State and Federal permits.

Sandbags are available at Public Works Corporate Yard on Butti Way. Call 887-2355 if you need more information. As of 11:15 there were 14 NV Energy outages in Carson City with 253 customers without power. Douglas County has 16 outages with 165 customers without power. There is one outage in Lyon County with one customer without power.

As in previous years, Christmas trees can be placed curbside on your regular trash collection day beginning Jan. 4 or taken to one of the drop-off locations.

Carson City broke ground Wednesday on its Animal Services facility with plenty of praise, rounds of applause and a sincere thank you from the Carson Animal Service Initiatives, also known as CASI, whose volunteers spent thousands of hours to make the shelter a reality.

Thursday forum to cover recreational trails around Carson City

"People who like trails get to use them, and if more people come into town there's better business and tourism,” said Anne Macquarie, moderator of the forum and founding president of Muscle Power: Citizens For A Bikeable and Walkable Carson City.
Volunteers in Carson City's first Trash Mob set out to tidy up the town

Volunteer Randy Gaa said he noticed the trash along the multi-use path and wanted to do something about it. As a member of Muscle Powered, a community group that advocates bicycling and pedestrian friendly development, he brought up his concerns to Donna Inversin, Muscle Powered's president.
Public Works Storm Water Management Program and Rate Review

Prior to that meeting, Public Works is seeking resident input on July 23, 2015, in the Ormsby Room at the Sheriff’s Office (911 E. Musser Street, Carson City, NV 89701). Two meetings will be held: 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Staff will present an overview of the storm water program and is seeking your input on expectations from the program.
Trash Mobs Help Clean Up Carson City
