Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.
Carson City awarded $5,000 Domino's 'Paving for Pizza' grant to fix potholes

Paving for Pizza is a creative nationwide initiative to award nominated cities funds to fill potholes. Carson City Public Works proudly accepts this award and is honored to be chosen based on the thoughtful nominations submitted by Carson City’s residents. The courteous gesture of nominating Carson City is praiseworthy.
Muscle Powered Trash Mob cleaned up at East Silver Saddle Ranch on Saturday
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 04/20/2019 - 2:39pmWe met in the large parking area at East Silver Saddle Ranch on Sierra Vista Lane and spread out to clear trash between the Carson River and Sierra Vista Lane. Things have improved a lot since the improvements have been put in by Carson City Public Works and Parks, Recreation, and Open Space but we were still able to find about 360 pounds of trash.

Carson City Public Works to host May open house

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the public works main facility, 3505 Butti Way off of Fairview. The open house will feature equipment tours, informational displays, raffle prizes, games, bounce houses, duck races and more.
Carson City residents experience colored tap water as public works does system flushes
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Tue, 03/26/2019 - 1:59pmCarson City residents experienced discolored tap water on Tuesday, which, according to Carson City Public Works, is caused by non-toxic, naturally occurring minerals that have accumulated in the water system. Public Works is currently spot checking and flushing the water systems and taps should be all clear within 24-hours.
Fire damages mobile home Friday night in East Carson City
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Sat, 03/02/2019 - 11:04amFriday at 11:37 p.m. the Carson City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 7200 block of U.S. Highway 50 East.
When firefighters arrived, they were faced with a double wide residential trailer that was fully engulfed with flames. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
Carson City road report: Snow removal and utility work ahead this week

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Ormsby Room located at 911 East Musser Street, in Carson City. Presentations will begin 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., leaving additional time for gathering ideas and open discussion.
