Carson City man arrested at hospital for having methamphetamine in his system
A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested at the hospital early Thursday morning for parole and probation violation and a Legal 2000 per the hospital.
According to the report, Derrick Cooper was arrested after deputies were dispatched to the hospital to transport Cooper to the Mallory Center.
Deputies made contact with Cooper and noted that he appeared very alert and energetic and could not stop fidgeting. Deputies told Cooper they would be transporting him, and he told them he would not stay at Mallory and would leave if taken there.
Cooper told deputies he wanted a ride home, and deputies said they weren’t taking him home because he needed further medical evaluation.
Cooper was cooperative with law enforcement officers, but was not cooperative with the Legal 2000.
Medical staff informed deputies Cooper had methamphetamine in his system. As Cooper is on supervision with parole and probation, this was a violation, and parole and probation asked for him to be placed on a hold.
He was transported the Carson City Jail without further incident.
No bail.
