Snow showers greet Carson City morning commuters
Carson City residents woke up to at least an inch or more of snow Friday morning, which made for slow going along local roads.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. this morning for the Reno, Carson City, Carson Valley, Virginia City and Dayton areas.
Scattered snow showers will continue through daybreak then slowly diminish through the rest of the morning. An additional inch of snow is expected this morning.
If you are headed to Lake Tahoe or over Sierra passes, expect chain and snow tire controls.
If you have some food to give, you can do so today at the Governor’s Mansion on West Robinson Street. The Channel 2 News team is there collecting out front as part of its annual tradition. The event runs until 6 p.m. tonight and benefits Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Friends in Helping Service, also known as FISH, the Ron Wood Family Resource Center, Food Bank of Northern Nevada and the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.
Another storm system will likely bring more snow and wind for Sunday and Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
