Furlong, the 26th sheriff to serve Carson City and Ormsby County since 1861. Among the topics to be discussed will be school security, the Sheriff Department's deescalation policy, and what may be unintended consequences of current juvenile detention practices. He will also be prepared to field questions on any issues of concern to the community.

In recognition of the fact that many families in our community, especially those with children, are struggling in this holiday period, the Carson City Democrats conducted a blazingly fast appeal to its members to support a cash drive for the Toys For Tots program.

CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, provides quality court-appointed advocacy for abused and neglected children in child welfare cases, through a network of community volunteers who work with children to ensure their voices are heard during court proceedings.

Lions Club kicks off Annual 'White Cane Days' in Carson City Oct. 10 and 11

Lions will be available at the North Carson Street Save Mart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day to bring awareness to the public of the sight preservation programs the Lions support, and to raise funds as part of the annual White Cane Days.
Emergency Food Delivery available for the community, mobile pantry deliveries serving Carson City

We will be delivering food in Carson City from September – December 2020.
If you are a senior, disabled or a family without transportation and are in need of food, please call for information on setting an appointment for your delivery.

School resource officer training brings deputies to Carson City from around Nevada, Arizona

The State of Nevada through the CARES Act has allocated over $10 million in Coronavirus Relief Funds “CRF” to Carson City. Carson City’s Preliminary Plan of Expenditure allocated $1 million to be awarded to non-profit organizations located in Carson City.
