Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) will conduct mosquito abatement treatments via drone on the morning of June 22. These operations will target the Anderson/Buzzy Ranch, River View Park, Linear Ditch, Mexican Ditch, and ponds east of I-580.
For the safety of our community and the protection of drone equipment, please respect trail closures and avoid the above areas during treatment timeframes.
Help Eliminate breeding grounds. Mosquitoes lay eggs in very small amounts of water. CCHHS urges residents to follow this weekly checklist to protect the community:
- Dump standing water from buckets, tires, toys, and plant saucers.
- Refresh water in birdbaths and pet bowls regularly.
- Clean gutters and drains to improve drainage and prevent clogs.
- Maintain pools and check for water collection on covers or tarps.
While CCHHS manages public areas, residents should take personal precautions when outdoors:
- Use EPA-registered repellents: Look for active ingredients like DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus (OLE), PMD, or 2-Undecanone.
- Dress for protection: Wear long sleeves and pants.
- Secure your home: Ensure window and door screens are intact and functional.
- Timing matters: Avoid outdoor activity during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
To report mosquito-related activity, please submit a complaint on our website https://www.gethealthycarsoncity.org/divisions/environmental-health/complaints-requests.
