Walton's celebrates 50th Anniversary with Resource Fair and Candle Lighting
Walton’s Chapel of the Valley in Carson City is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a day of free events Sunday. The event runs from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at 1281 N. Roop St.
A free Senior Resource Fair will run from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m., offering the community access to information on estate planning, living independently, Nevada Rural Housing Authority's affordable housing options, funeral planning, hospice care and more.
The Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living will be sharing information, and answering questions, on how to live independently, regardless of disability.
Immunize Nevada and Walgreens will also be on-hand with free flu shots for those aged 7 and older. Although insurance is not required, those being vaccinated should bring their insurance card (including Nevada Checkup and Medicaid) if they have it.
After the resource fair, local dignitaries, including Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell and Congressman Mark Amodei, will commemorate the anniversary with short presentations, followed by a short talk by the founder of Walton's, Ed McCaffery.
A long-time tradition, we'll host our Remembrance and Candle Lighting Service for anyone who has lost a loved one. The service will begin at 6:00 p.m. and everyone is welcome.
