Carson City deputies arrest man for burglary, possession of burglary tools

A 31-year-old Silver springs man was arrested in the 3300 block of N. Carson Street for felony burglary and possession of burglary tools.

According to the arrest report, Jefferson Davis Pendergrass was arrested after deputies were called to a local gas station just after 2 a.m. on a report of a man harassing customers.

When deputies arrived, the man had already left and deputies located him walking away from a closed business. When they illuminated Pendergrass with their overhead lights, they noted that Pendergrass was seen tossing items on the ground as he walked toward deputies.

As deputies made contact with Pendergrass they noted he smelled strongly of alcohol, and that he was “acting strange” and not following commands.

Pendergrass allowed deputies to search his person where they found a surgical mask and hand sanitizer. Pendergrass said he was waiting for a ride from his mother back to Silver Springs.

Deputies looked at the items Pendergrass has thrown, which included a flashlight, a screwdriver/window punch tool, a blue surgical mask, and the registration and insurance to a vehicle. The registration and insurance belonged to a vehicle in the parking lot of the closed business he was walking away from.

Deputies investigated the vehicle and noted that the door was open, and inside, they could smell a strong odor of alcohol. The vehicle appeared to have bene rummaged through, and there was an opened box of surgical masks that were the same kind they had located in Pendergrass’s pocket.

Additionally, sitting on the ground right outside the vehicle there was a bottle of hand sanitizer of the same brand they located on Pendergrass.

Deputies arrested him for burglary and possession of burglary tools, and he was booked without issue.

Bail: $22,500

According to the report, Lenox Leonel Lacour was arrested after deputies stopped a vehicle driving with a headlight out. Deputies stopped the vehicle and learned that while the vehicle was an Acura SUV, the registration was listed for a Toyota.

No one in the vehicle had a driver’s license, registration or insurance, according to the report.

A passenger of the vehicle, later identified as Lacour, had hands that were visibly shaking, and his phone rang “a lot” during their conversation.

Deputies patted Lacour down for weapons and located a methamphetamine pipe in his front pocket. They also located nearly $1,200 in cash in his pocket and one “point” of heroin.

The other occupants were released on scene. One man stated he needed to retrieve a few things from the vehicle, including several necklaces, one with a scorpion, that he wears for protection. According to the report, deputies “know from their training and experience this is used by traffickers and sellers of controlled substances to wear for protection according to their religion.”

Bail: $3,600

— A 55-year-old transient man who was in custody at the Carson City Jail was additionally booked for destruction of jail property and intimidation of a public officer after allegedly threatening to kill a doctor 22 times and smashing a camera with a tub.

According to the report, the man became agitated and told the doctor that he would kill them 22 times and that they were a “f****** dead man” and that he would “come to your house.” He also stated he was “going to look for you” and that he knew where the doctor worked.

The man then picked up the tub used to store inmate property and used it to strike the camera in the cell.

The camera’s total value was estimated at $589.00, and the jail tubs are valued at $7.51.

Additional bail: $5,000

Deputies made contact with the driver, later identified as Galvan, and dispatch advised deputies of the warrants. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located seven small baggies which contained a white powder, suspected to be methamphetamine. Deputies also located two methamphetamine pipes, and a tooter straw.

Galvan was taken into custody without issue.
