Carson City arrest report: Pair booked for possession of stolen property, vehicle recovered
Two were booked Tuesday for suspicion of felony possession of stolen property, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report.
April Faavae, 36, and Daniel De Jesus, 24, both of Carson City, were taking into custody at 3:30 p.m. in the area of Riparian Way and Hells Bells Road. According to the arrest report, at around 11:20 a.m. a Carson City sheriff's deputy was dispatched to the 2400 block of East Nye Lane for a report of a stolen vehicle.
The officer met with the reporting party who stated his 2003 Dodge Durango was taken without his permission by his niece. The victim stated the woman took the keys off of a hook inside the home at around 2 a.m. and left the residence.
The victim stated he does not allow the woman to drive or to be in possession of his vehicle because she does not have a driver's license. The victim stated the woman hangs out at local casinos with a man, identified later as De Jesus.
Officers investigating began looking for the vehicle, which was located by a deputy who observed two subjects sitting in it in the area of Riparian Way and Hells Bells Road.
April Faavae was sitting in the driver's seat and De Jesus was sitting in the passenger seat. Both were ordered out of the vehicle and placed into handcuffs. The vehicle was checked and there were no other occupants inside. After the vehicle was secured, the reporting party was told he could retrieve the vehicle. The pair were taken to jail and booked for suspicion of possession of stolen property. Bail: $25,000 each.
In other arrests:
— A 60-year-old Homewood, Calif. man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, hit and run and open container of alcohol in a vehicle. According to the arrest report, Carson City deputies were dispatched to the area of Clearview and South Carson regarding a hit and run, possible DUI driver. A reporting party observed a pickup back into another vehicle and leave. The reporting party followed the driver.
A deputy conducted a stop on the vehicle at the intersection of Clearview and Hillview. The officer spoke with the driver and observed him to have red watery eyes, slow, slight slurred speech and a moderate odor of alcohol coming from his person. The man advised he had dinner at a restaurant and 1 alcoholic beverage with dinner, the arrest report states.
The man agreed to submit to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath sample of .365. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Located inside the vehicle was a bottle of liquor as well as 6 open beer cans on the passenger side of the vehicle. The man agreed to evidentiary testing, a breath test. The test results were .248 and .250, according to the arrest report. Bail: $1,966.
— A 38-year-old Carson City woman, Heidi Willow Washburn, was arrested early Wednesday for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the booking report, a Carson City sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop at 12:36 a.m. on a vehicle that did not have a license plate affixed to the rear of the vehicle.
The officer made contact with the woman, who consented to a search of her vehicle. The deputy located a cloth glasses case inside a purse that contained a glass pipe, with white residue on the walls of the pipe.
The pipe had a hollowed bulbed end with a hole on the top and burn and scorch marks on the bottom. Also within the purse was a small metal container that had less than .1 gram of methamphetamine. She was arrested. Bail: $3,637.
— A 62-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday after turning herself in for a warrant alleging violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $1,000.
