Carson High the place to shine Saturday
Dozens of automobiles found a place to shine Saturday afternoon at Carson High School, host of the inaugural "A Place To Shine" show and shine fundraiser.
There were hot rods and street rods, custom jobs and stock automobiles, fully restored models and unfinished projects, motorcycles, tripped out pedal bicycles and trikes, toy pedal cars, funky custom paint and rust, shiny chrome, extreme hydraulics, scrap engine parts, and white wall tires.
Besides an eclectic collection of vehicles -- from vintage automobiles to custom street rods fully equipped with nitrous oxide and bouncing hydraulic lifts -- the event also featured contests, raffles, a live DJ, a silent auction, as well as food and craft vendors.
Children enjoyed the bounce houses and a dunk tank, too.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will help low income students cover the costs to participating in extracurricular activities
Saturday's show and shine, sponsored in part by the Nevada Rural Housing Authority and Carson City Cruise, featured trophy awards to the top two entries in 17 vehicle categories, including Best of Show, People's Choice, and Organizer's Choice.
There were also swag bags and prizes handed out for car sound and limbo contests.
