RSVP offers final batch of Farmers Market coupons for seniors
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Inc., also known as RSVP, has a limited number of free Farmers Market coupons for fresh produce to offer to Carson City low-income seniors through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
Beginning Monday, July 28, coupons will be distributed at the RSVP office at 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite #6 from 1 to 4 p.m. ONLY until they are gone. To avoid disappointment, please call (775) 687-4680 ext . 0 to verify there are still booklets available. Each person can receive only 1 coupon booklet per season so if you have already received one, you are not eligible for a second set.
Each coupon book contains 15 - $2 coupons for a total of $30 that can be used at the Carson City Farmers Market which is open every Saturday from 8:30 am - 1:30 pm at 3rd and Curry Street or any other Nevada Farmers Market displaying the appropriate signage. Once the booklets are claimed, there will not be any additional distributed.
In order to qualify for coupons you must be a senior aged 60 or older and must have an income that does not exceed $21,257 annually. An eligible senior couple whose combined income does not exceed $28,694 annually can receive 1 book per person. Both people need to be present to receive the coupon books. Disabled persons younger than 60 are not eligible for the program.
You will need to present a Nevada ID or a Nevada driver’s license in order to receive coupons and must sign the self-certification form at the distribution site.
You must have a Carson City ID to receive the coupons. The Senior Farmers market Nutrition Program is a cooperative effort provided by RSVP, the USDA, the Nevada State Commodity Food Distribution Program, the Nevada Department of Agriculture, the Nevada Certified Farmers Market Association and the State of Nevada Division for Aging Services, whose combined purpose is to increase the consumption, production and distribution of locally grown fruits and vegetables that bring about better health through improved nutrition.
