Carson City woman held after fetus of miscarried pregnancy found in freezer
UPDATE: According to an update news release from the Carson City Sheriff's Office, the woman was released from custody and has been cooperative with authorities. Further details will be provided pending the results of the autopsy report, according to the release.

A 22-year-old Carson City woman is being held after she allegedly miscarried her pregnancy and put the fetus in a freezer, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 9:20 a.m., Thursday CCSO received information that a female residing at the 1600 block of Airport Road had taken drugs in October 2019 to miscarry her pregnancy and that the fetus is still in the refrigerator, freezer at the home, according to a news release from Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
Officers arrived at the apartment, where the mother confirmed the information received.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
A young child (2 year old daughter) at the scene was released to Child Protective Services, and pets were released to the Humane Society.
Detectives have retrieved the fetus from the freezer. The body has been transferred to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
