Carson City man arrested for second DUI after nearly hitting deputies' patrol car
A 72-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday evening in the 1400 block of N. Curry for suspicion of second DUI and failure to yield to right of way.
According to the police report, deputies were patrolling in the area of N. Curry and Adams streets just after 9 p.m. Friday evening when they witnessed a vehicle enter the intersection and nearly collide with the deputies' vehicle on the driver's side.
Deputies stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, who spoke with slurred speech and had an odor of alcohol coming from his person.
He told deputies he had consumed three beers when asked if he had had anything to drink.
The man consented to voluntarily participate in field sobriety tests, during which he showed multiple signs of impairment throughout.
He provided a voluntary breath sample which resulted in a .101 percent BAC.
Dispatch advised he had been convicted of a DUI first in 2014, which brought the current DUI to a gross misdemeanor.
He was taken into custody without incident. Bail: $2,602.
