Carson City sheriff’s log: Arrests made for parole violation, DUI and theft

A Carson City man was arrested early Thursday morning in the 2200 block of East William Street for felony suspicion of parole and probation violation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Jose Elizando was arrested at 4:01 a.m. at a casino. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the casino for a report of suspicious subjects. The reporting party advised there were two males in the casino that appeared to be loitering. The deputy made contact with Elizando. He denied drinking, did not appear under the influence of alcohol and was cooperative.

A computer check returned showing the man was on parole and probation with a “do not enter a bar or lounge” clause. Parole and probation was notified and requested he be arrested for violation of parole. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 63-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday in the 700 block of South Carson Street for suspicion of DUI and destruction of property, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to a convenience store and gas station regarding a non-injury accident. While responding to the location, dispatch advised the reporting person was speaking to the driver and she could smell alcohol coming from his person.

The deputy made contact with the driver and asked what happened. The man said he backed into a pole in the parking lot. The pole was torn out of the asphalt. He said he had left a casino and was on his way home. While speaking, the deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from him and observed red, watery eyes.

The officer asked the man if he had been drinking. The man said he had a couple “shots” at the casino. The officer asked if he would voluntarily perform standardized field sobriety tests. The man agreed and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .141 and was arrested. A jail he provided evidentiary blood tests. Bail: $1,774.

— A 34-year-old transient was arrested Wednesday, 7:39 a.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor possession of stolen property, a license plate, according to a Carson City sheriff’s deputy.

At around 7:25 a.m. the officer was dispatched to the parking lot of a casino regarding a stolen license plate and made contact with a sheriff’s office volunteer who said that he observed the suspect drive their vehicle from the corner of Washington Street to North Plaza Street to the casino parking lot.

The volunteer said the license plate attached to the rear of a 1986 Ford pickup had been removed and reported stolen. The deputy located the suspect near the pickup and placed him under arrest for possession of stolen property. Bail: $1,187.

— A 49-year-old Modesto, Calif., man was booked into Carson City Jail on Wednesday, 3 p.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Sept. 1, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $20,000.

— A 26-year-old Sparks woman was booked Wednesday into Carson City Jail for a misdemeanor failure to appear in traffic court warrant issued May 20, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $215.
