Carson City arrests: Man jailed for felony fraud warrant, switching up license plates
A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for a felony warrant alleging uttering a forged instrument, and six misdemeanors, a sheriff’s deputy said.
Dalton Charles Downen was taken into custody at 2:19 p.m. in the 800 block of East William Street.
He also faces misdemeanor charges of driving with a fictitious plate, driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance, driving on suspended registration, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of bail conditions.
According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a black BMW due to the officer having knowledge the man’s license and vehicle registration was suspended.
Dispatch advised the license plate that was on the vehicle was also suspended and returned to a GMC pickup, which also belonged to Downen, the arrest report states.
He was advised of the felony warrant and arrested. While conducting inventory of the vehicle deputies located a hypodermic needle inside the vehicle. The man does not have a medical prescription to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, the arrest report states. Bail: $10,720.

— A 20-year-old Reno man as arrested Wednesday, 6:20 a.m. for being a minor consuming alcohol. Bail: $242.
— A 25-year-old Sparks man was arrested Wednesday, 5 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and obstructing.
According to the arrest report, the man had supplied at least three people underage with alcohol, including the man's girlfriend. When officers inquired about the man’s identity he did not provide accurate information. Bail: $1,057.
