Carson City sheriff’s bookings: Man slams truck into three parked vehicles, jailed for second DUI

A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday night on multiple misdemeanor charges including DUI second offense after allegedly crashing into three unoccupied vehicles, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 1500 block of Goldfield Avenue for an injury crash. Deputies arrived on scene and observed multiple vehicles with damage to them.

A deputy spoke with a man who stated he observed the incident. He said he saw the white truck driven by the suspect come around the corner off of Saliman onto Goldfield Avenue. He stated the man hit one of the parked vehicles in the 1500 block of Goldfield.

He said when the man hit the parked vehicle it got pushed into another parked vehicle. He stated the driver put his truck into reverse and hit the same truck into more vehicles. He stated the driver then tried to drive off but then got out of the vehicle and had to be helped because he could not stand up straight, the arrest report states.

Three vehicles were hit by the suspect’s vehicle causing damage to all vehicles.

A deputy went over to the man who was sitting on the tailgate of his truck. The officer asked where he was going and he told the deputy back to his house in the 500 block of Jeanell Drive.

While the man was talking the officer could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. He had very slurred speech and red watery eyes. When the man stood up he nearly fell over and could not keep balance on his own.

The officer asked if he would participate in field sobriety tests and the man replied no. He was asked if he would provide a breath sample on a preliminary breath test and the man replied no. At that time he was placed in custody for suspicion of DUI.

He was taken to the hospital to be medically cleared due to his unknown alcohol level. Once he was cleared he was taken to jail for evidentiary testing. He still declined to do either a breath or blood test and so the deputy obtained a search warrant for a blood draw.

The deputy investigated the man’s criminal history and learned he was convicted of DUI in July 2016. He was booked on suspicion of second offense DUI, driving with no valid license, violation of a suspended sentence and violation of bail conditions. Bail: $6,692.

— A 53-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 7:33 p.m. in the 2000 block of Sheffield Manor on misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery and violation of pre-trial supervision.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area for a domestic battery where a wife allegedly slapped her husband several times in the face when the husband attempted to take away beer the woman was drinking because she was intoxicated.

Officers observed approximately three scratches on the left side of the man’s face that were approximately 2 inches long. There was blood on his neck, his skin was red and he had swelling on his face.

An officer spoke with the woman who said the two were arguing over bills and that the argument never became physical. The deputy conducted a records check of the woman and was advised she was on pre-trial supervision with a condition not to drink alcohol. She submitted to a preliminary breath test with a .210 and was taken to jail. Bail: $6,137.

— A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 7:32 p.m. in the 2600 block of Sneddon Way for misdemeanor suspicion of battery. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the 1600 block of Medical Parkway and met with the victim who stated he was at an Alcoholic’s Anonymous meeting.

He stated the suspect began antagonizing him, then stood up and began punching him. A witness confirmed that the man punched the victim and that the victims attempted to defend himself. The officer observed blood coming from the victim’s right side of his forehead as well as bruising across his left eyebrow. The victim stated he would like to press charges against the suspect, who had left the scene.

Officers arrived at the suspect’s house. He stated he knew he messed up and was waiting for officers to arrive. Due to a history of failure to appear, the officer took the man into custody and to jail. He was read his Miranda rights and stated that the victim was being verbal with him and being antagonistic. He stated he stood up and punched the man once. He stated the two began to fight and that the victim punched him three times. The officer did not observe any marks on the suspect. Bail: $1,137.

— A 57-year-old Carson City man, Pete Wene, was arrested Sunday, 7:06 p.m. in the 200 block of West Caroline for a felony parole and probation violation.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the area and contact was made with a father and son.

The son called to report his father was being verbally abusive and was intoxicated. Upon arrival the officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol on elder man’s breath. He refused to answer any questions. A computer check showed him to be under supervision through Nevada Parole and Probation and that he had a conditions clause that he could not drink alcohol. He was arrested and booked into jail. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.
