Carson City sheriff's log: False ID leads to felony arrest on narcotics warrant

Two women were arrested on felony charges after a traffic stop early Saturday on I-580 near College Parkway, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said. The first was booked for providing false ID to avoid prosecution, a felony, and parole and probation violation. The second woman was wanted by U.S. Marshals on a felony warrant for pretrial violations related to a federal narcotics case.

Paris Linnea Wolf, 24, of Reno, was a passenger in a car that failed to maintain its lane on the highway, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said. According to the arrest report, at 12:17 a.m., Wolf gave the deputy a false name. Through questioning he discovered her true identity. Wolf was taken into custody on no bail hold in lieu of a hearing.

Additionally, Celena Michelle Penfold, listed as a transient, also gave the deputy a false name. When the arresting officer could not verify the information provided and began questioning Penfold further, she finally gave her true identification. In addition to the felony no bail warrant, she is being held on misdemeanor obstruction for providing false information to deputies.

Other arrests:
— A Gardnerville woman was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of felony burglary and misdemeanor larceny. Jade Kizer, 48, was detained in the 3700 block of South Carson Street at 5:38 p.m. after attempting to steal a 1.5 liter bottle of liquor valued at $68.98, and a 750ml bottle of liquor valued at $24.99. Both items were concealed in Kizer’s purse and officers observed her pass all points of payment and exit the store before approaching.
The larceny charge is a warrant out of Douglas County from March 31, 2015. Total bail: $5,500.
A man with Kizer was arrested for misdemeanor petit larceny after attempting to steal a 750ml bottle of liquor valued at $24.99. His bail is set at $250.

— Two Carson City men were arrested Jan. 10 on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine.
Eddy Enrique Lanuza-Alfaro, 29, and Isai Ramirez, 26, were arrested in a parking lot near Nye and Carson streets after a traffic stop for vehicle license plate violation.

According to the arrest report, a K-9 was brought to the scene to conduct a sniff of the vehicle, and after the K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs, 3 grams of methamphetamine was located inside a pack of cigarettes. Lanuza-Alfaro is also being held for driving without a license and license plate required, both misdemeanors. Bail: $2,625. Ramirez is being in lieu of $3,500 bail for his alleged violations.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant out of Reno at his home on Colorado Street Friday morning and is being held on no bail.

—An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested for misdemeanor DUI (1st offense) 2:02 a.m. Saturday after a traffic stop near the 1400 block of South Carson Street. This suspect is also being held for misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence and failure to maintain lane. Bail: $2,040.

A 44-year-old-resident of Carson City was arrested for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant and misdemeanor possession of marijuana near Peters and Lee streets Friday at 12:16 p.m. His bail is set at $1,500.

— A 34-year-old man of Carson City was arrested for misdemeanor failure to appear on a traffic citation near Roventini Way and Cochise Street on Thursday at 4:03 p.m. after the vehicle he was traveling in was stopped for expired registration. Bail: $330.

— A 35-year-old resident of Carson City, already in custody, was arrested at the Sheriff’s Office on Friday for 3 misdemeanor warrants for contempt of court. Total bail: $23,000.

— A 28-year-old resident of Reno, already in custody, was arrested Friday for misdemeanor contempt of court. Bail is set at $3,000.

UPDATE: Carson City responds to questions regarding Fourth of July fireworks changes, access to Centennial Park.

For the first time in 33 years, the Carson City Fourth of July fireworks will not be held near Mills Park.

Instead, the display will move to Eagle Valley Golf Course, located at 3999 Centennial Park Dr. In addition, the Fourth of July celebration will now include a golf tournament in addition to a dinner and VIP Fireworks viewing option.

The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., will visit Douglas County for the second time this spring. The Moving Wall, which has been viewed around the country since 1984, will will be in Minden for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The Wall will be free to view for the duration of its display at the Eastside Memorial Park, 1600 Buckeye Rd, Minden from May 23-28, 2024. The building of the wall began at 10 a.m. Thursday.

YERINGTON — Lyon County and the Nevada Secretary of State are aware of the error on the 2024 Lyon County primary ballot regarding the number of candidates to vote for in the Fernley City Council Ward 5 and the Stagecoach General Improvement District Trustees races. Lyon County and the Secretary of State's Office are working through these issues and will have additional information for the candidates and voters by the end of this week.

This June, a group of over 100 denizens of Carson City will depart for a 10-day educational exploration of Japan.
