LifePoint Church offers grieving assistance, services this weekend
Honoring those who protect and serve our community and nation while addressing the grief, anger and fear that come naturally when we are exposed to unspeakable pain like that of 9/11 and the recent shooting incident at IHOP in nearby Carson City has prompted LifePoint Church to change the direction of their services this weekend. The focus will move to helping the local community acknowledge the pain of what happened, process through it and move forward with sensitivity, courage and faith in God.
“When a tragedy like this shooting happens in our community, there’s a sense of shock, fear and anger that all of us feel at some level”, stated Lead Pastor Bill McCready, “Our hearts and prayers go out to the people and families directly affected by this tragic event. LifePoint Church wants to offer whatever help we can to the people in our area, starting by devoting our regular weekend services to prayer for everyone in our valley as we respond to this recent act and remember the events of 9/11.”
LifePoint Church hopes to help the community slow down and grieve through a season like this in a healthy way. Care Pastor, Roy Conover, explains, “Grief is a natural way to express our reaction to tragedy – it looks like shock, anger and deep sadness. We want to give our community permission to grieve over this horrible event. We want to tangibly express our love and concern for people and we’re inviting anyone and everyone to join us in an act of unity and love for one another this weekend”
LifePoint Church will also be offering 2 Grief and Trauma Debriefings, Saturday at 6:15 pm and Sunday at 12:30 pm in an effort to give community members an opportunity to process through what has taken place and provide tools and resources for dealing with grief. Parents will find this to be an excellent resource to help their children walk through this tragedy with healing and comfort.
LifePoint Church offers 3 weekend services. Sat 4:30pm/Sun 9:00am and 10:45am
