Evening of Art at Fritsch Elementary
The art gallery at Fritsch Elementary School was an overwhelming success!
After a week of working on their projects, students showed off their works of art at the school on Thursday, May 22nd. With a fourth grade violinist playing in the background, family and friends strolled around looking at over 400 creative and original masterpieces.
With help from an Artist in Residence grant through the Nevada Arts Council and the school’s PTA, for one week four local artists instructed each grade level on color theory and artistic techniques and used different mediums such as clay, oil pastels, and paint.
Jana Raab’s third grade students worked with artist Dana Childs who taught them a watercolor technique called “wet into wet”. “I didn’t know I was an artist! It was so much fun and calming,” said one third grader.
The support of the parents, teachers and artists made this event possible. Artists involved in the project included: Dana Childs, Camille Howard, Amanda Palmer and Stefan Reid.
