St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School invites the community to experience the sixth annual Night of Nativity Exhibit. More than 250 Nativity scenes will be displayed in a warmly lit multipurpose room, and as you enjoy them, soft Christmas music will be playing, filling you with the Spirit of Christmas!

Fifth graders from all six public elementary schools as well as Carson Montessori, Bethlehem Lutheran and Saint Teresa’s will perform as a unified holiday choir for the annual Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights on the Capitol steps in downtown Carson City Friday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m.

On Monday, The Brother Dan Show will feature multi-instrumentalist Jeff Laakso for an afternoon of music and chat. Laakso’s talents range from saxophone to mandolin, keyboards, accordion, electronic wind instrument, and vocals. A long-time stalwart on the Northern Nevada jam band scene, Laakso has balanced his career between local bands such as The Paisley Brain Cells with a corporate position creating music for video gaming and slot machines.

A featured performer at Wild River Grille’s (Reno) summer patio concert series, Stangeland will join the host for an interview and musical performance at Bank Saloon in Carson City on Monday, Nov. 21.

The Capital Community Band, under the direction of Nick Jacques, will tie a big red bow around 2022 by presenting a Holiday concert on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

Monday marks the appearance of music industry veteran John Palmore on The Brother Dan Show. This talented keyboardist/singer served as musical director for Bill Pinkney’s “Original Drifters” for many years. That experience led to international touring and playing with artists such as Jackie Wilson, Mary Wells, Wilson Pickett, Percy Sledge, and The Platters.

Audience members turned wanna-be detectives are loving The Great Gadfly. Produced by the Proscenium Players, Inc. (PPI) the show is an interactive murder mystery filled with a mischievous cast of characters.

The mystery begins when a buffoonish party host is discovered dead by his conniving and self-absorbed guests.

So, what does an ex-Broadway performer do when he buys a farm but can't pay his mortgage? He brings in his Broadway buddies to put on shows at his farmhouse!

A free Folded Book Christmas Tree Workshop will be held at the Silver-Stage Library on Saturday, November 12 from 12 pm – 2 pm. Admission is free. Seats are limited. This workshop is suitable for individuals 12 years and older.
