Carson Nugget in downtown Carson City will ring in New Year's Eve with comedy that will keep you rolling with laughter to start 2023.

Headliners Kathleen Dunbar and Steve Barkley will take the stage at the Carson Nugget's Comedy Club, with two Saturday, New Year's Eve shows at 6 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. Brian Lee is the emcee.

The Resident Artist Program in Silver City had a particularly busy year offering free public concerts, art exhibitions, poetry readings, and art workshops. Visual artists, musicians and poets brought their creativity, thoughtful engagement, and fascinating academic projects to the historic Comstock community during 2022.

Murphy’s Inc. is an audio science fiction adventure that follows an organization led by Murphy with her two agents, Michael and Daphne, as they and their rag-tag team travel through time to steal precious artifacts.

Historian and Author David C. Antonucci has a new book, the Environmental History of Lake Tahoe. The story of Lake Tahoe is the story of people and the environment and their reciprocal influences. The environment shaped the lives of the early people of Tahoe, and later, people shaped the Tahoe environment.

Tonight, Sunday, Dec. 18 at 5:30 p.m., the Brewery Arts Center and Michael Tedesco will be hosting a city wide unique take on the classical caroling holiday tradition called Unsilent Night, an international event created by Phil Kline.

Please join us in Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night! It’s been described as “A luminous soundscape played by the audience on boomboxes carried through city streets.”

The location for Carson City Symphony Association's "Violin and Piano House Recital" on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 18, 2 p.m., has been changed due to icy conditions at the original venue. The afternoon of music, conversation, wine, and dessert with Brian Fox, violin, and Eric Kao, piano, will be at 191 Heidi Circle, Carson City.

On Dec. 11 at noon, Wylder Hotel Hope Valley continues its Eastern Sierra speaker series with a living history presentation of Snowshoe Thompson-Mailman of the Sierra.

Carson High Speech and Debate is set to hold its first tournament since COVID shut down schools in 2020. This year, 14 schools and 150 students will gather at Carson High School for 10 rounds of competition Dec. 9-10. The event is open to the public and the team is looking for volunteer judges to assist in ensuring smooth rounds.

With November's theme being "Tools of the Trade" The Carson City Photo Club unveiled the winning photos in its monthly photography competition.

The Resident Artist Program in Silver City is delighted to present a pop-up show and artist talk with photographic artist and researcher Alice Cazenave of England on Sunday, Dec. 11.

Cazenave will exhibit photographic artworks from her project “Desert Treasures: Colours of the Comstock.”

Fans of Living the Good Life will find a familiar face at Gina's Good Life Music and Lounge, which opens tonight, Thursday, Dec. 1 inside the Carson City Nugget.

Wild Horse Children’s Theater presents the Northern Nevada premiere of the Tony and Academy Award winning musical, Oliver! JR.

Performances will take place at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City on the weekends of Dec. 2 and 9, with Friday and Saturday evening shows at 7:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm.

The Capital Community Band, under the direction of Nick Jacques, will tie a big red bow around 2022 by presenting a Holiday concert this Sunday, Dec. 4.

The free concert will be presented in the Boldrick Theater in the Carson Community Center at 2 p.m.

Joyful Noise Carson Children's Choir directed by Michelle Powers will present several holiday performances in Carson City and Carson Valley this year.

Kristin Hoffman is a local aspiring actress who will be featured this year playing the Grinch at the Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights to the delight of the audience and mostly Carson’s fifth graders as she slithers down the capitol steps to do what the Grinch does best — mess with them!

A small opening and sale will take place Thursday, Dec. 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Charlie B Gallery and Vasefinder Ceramic Art Museum located at 114 West Telegraph Street, Carson City.
